カナダオンタリオ州 Kincardine District Secondary School留学中の金子　実里英さんからの第１回目のレポートです。

 

カナダのオンタリオ州に留学中の金子実里英です。とってもとってもとーーーっても遅れてしまった第１回目のレポートのテーマは、家庭生活と留学の目標です。こっちに来てから、変わったことやまだ慣れないことなどを、読んでくれている人が読んで良かったと思ってもらえるように書いていきたいと思います！

 

今は、学校の先生のストライキ、スノーデー２日間、週末の５連休の真っ只中なので、いい機会だと思い、書いています。笑　スノーデーは、さすがカナダと思うような雪のためにバスが走らなくなったり、道路が閉鎖されたりするため、学校に行かない日のことです。楽しいです。ただせっかく朝早く起きられた日がスノーデーだとがっかりなこともあります。

レポート、３回目のレポートに入っている人もいて、自分の甘さを反省しています。涙

 

まず、トロントについてから、３週間の研修がありました。そこでのホストは、マザーだけでしたが、2人で、一緒にごはんをつくったり、お買い物に一緒に行ったり、お友達のように仲良くなって、プールや、コストコ、ズンバ、カナダズワンダーランドに連れて行ってもらえたことに感謝しています。そして、これらのほとんどのところに、今も学校が同じ友達の百々子も一緒に行きました。お友達もたくさんできて、騒ぎまくった３週間でした。笑

 

次に長期のホストファミリーについて書いていきます。ラックナウという人口1000人の小さな町に住んでいます。家族は、ファザー、マザー、8歳のシスター、5歳のブラザーです。サンクスギビングやクリスマスの時には、母方のたくさんの親戚が集まり、ワイワイご飯を食べ、一緒にゲームをしました。この家族は、ブラジルの留学生を何回か受け入れたことがあるらしく、他の国の文化にとても興味があるようです。日本食を作ると、毎回美味しいと行ってくれ、自分が料理できるようになったことに感動しています。すんごい嬉しい。でも海苔の好き嫌いはすごく分かれます。そして、日本にいた頃全くしてこなかった、皿洗いのお手伝いを毎夕飯後にしています。そして、週末は、あまり友達と会う機会もないので、家族で、スケートをしに行ったり、日曜は教会に行ったり、ほとんどの時間を家族と過ごします。

 

この家のハウスルールを紹介したいと思います。一つ目は、1日に１回は、外に出て、綺麗な外の空気を吸いに行きます。もう一つは、金曜の夜、家族で映画を見るというルールです。あとは、ご飯の前にお祈りの代わりに歌を歌います。

 

私は、ギターを近所のおうちで習い始め、クラリネットを学校で吹き、バイオリンを教会のバンドの人たちに混ざって弾き、と、音楽三昧な生活をしています。ピアノを弾けないのは、若干つまらないけれど。ドラマのクラスにいけば、ピアノがあり、たまに弾けて幸せです。

 

近所の教会のユースグループにも入っています。月に一回、Lucknowのティーンエイジャーが集まり、ゲームをしたり夜ご飯を食べたりする集まりです。サンクスギビング、ハロウィーン、クリスマス、など行事に合わせた集まりがあります。

 

次にわたしの留学の目標についてです。1番大きな目標は、自分の世界を広げることです。まだ、具体的に何がどうとかわからないけど、やれることやって楽しみたいです。そして、時間にルーズな国ではありますが、それに甘えず、だらしなくならないぞ、と決めました。また、日本で待っていてくれている人たちを、がっかりさせないように、成長して帰りたいです。

 

では、ほぼ留学の半分が終わった頃の、第１回目のレポートを終わります。読んでくれてありがとうございました。

 

I’m Mirie Kaneko. I’m staying in Lucknow, Ontario. I am going to write this report about two things: My Canadian life so far and my goals of study abroad. I’m late to hand in this report sooo much. Sorry.

 

First, I arrived in Toronto, Canada on the 6^th of August and stayed for 3 weeks. My host mom was so nice and friendly. Especially, she taught me so many things about Canada. She took me to the public indoor pool, the Costco, the Zumba and Canada’s Wonderland. we went there with Momoko(except for the Costco). It was so early that time passed. I have made many friends and play like crazy. Haha

 

Today, it’s Friday, and snow day. Yesterday, it was snow day as well. Then, the day before yesterday, it was the day off because of teacher’s strike. I got 5 days off!!!! The snow day is no school day, because of a lot of snow, then buses are stop running (the bus is canceled) or some highways are closed.

 

Next, I am going to introduce my host family for ten months. I’m staying at Lucknow, Ontario. There are 1000 people here. Here has a lot of forests and other natures. In my family, there are my dad, mom, a sister, 8 years old and a brother, 5 years old. They had hosted few exchange students who are from other countries, so they are interested in the cultures of foreign countries and also, they said they are glad to be able to host me to exchange cultures between Japan and Canada. I’m glad to stay with this family for ten months. So, I help my mom with cleaning up the table after supper which I often didn’t do when I was in japan. When we are cleaning up after supper, my sister and brother are playing crazy with dad every day (my mom always says they are playing crazy!). haha They always scream and laugh a lot. They look funny. My sister likes to have Japanese food. She especially likes to eat seaweeds. My mom likes to have Japanese food, except for seaweeds! She only said it is interesting. On weekends, I always free, so I go skating to the arena and to the church on Sundays with my family.

 

I am going to write about my family’s rules. First, we go outside to take fresh air every day. My mom and sister and I went for a walk at night, when it was snowing so much. The snow was pretty. Second, we watch the movies at night on Fridays. We watched the lord of the rings. My brother and sister liked to watch them, so they watched every series for few days. Then, the last rule of my house is to sing the song before eating instead of praying to god. The lyric is “Thank you for the food we eat. Thank you for the world so sweet. Thank you for the bird that sing. Thank you god for everything.” In Japan, I only say “itadakimasu”. This is the different culture between Canada (foreign countries) and Japan.

 

I leaned to play the in my music class at 1^st semester. And I started playing the guitar that my neighbor teaches me how to play it. Both of them are mom’s recommending. I’m glad to play them. I will continue to play the guitar after I will be back to japan. I played the violin at the church with the band member on the Christmas day’s eve. And also, I can play the piano at the drama class. There is an old piano. I could play it at 1^st semester, but no drama class at 2^nd semester, so I won’t play it. I am missing to play the piano.

 

I am a member of youth group of church that is near my house. We gather on Fridays once a month. We have super on the Thanksgiving Day, Halloween, the Christmas day and so on. There are my friends near my house.

 

Next, I am going to write about my goal of this program. My biggest one is to discover a whole new world, and I hope I will get something what to do soon. Then, I’m too lazy to be on time, so I want to make it all during this program. I don’t want to let my parents or friends down because I didn’t change, so I do my  best!!!!!
