アメリカに留学中の濱崎友理さんから第2回目の留学報告が届きました。

お久しぶりです。ユリです、アメリカに来てもう三ヶ月が経とうとしています。時間の流れが速く感じます。といっても嫌なことがあった日には“早く帰りたい”だの、“あと○ヶ月か”だのと考えてしまいますが。前回のレポートから今日まで、いろんな出来事がありました。上手くまとめられるか不安ですが、読んでもらえると嬉しいです。

 

9月の中頃に、ハロウィンのためのパンプキンを買いにパンプキンパッチに行って来ました。自然の多い場所で秋を感じさせる装飾やアメリカならではの見世物やゲームが開催されていて、新鮮でした。そこで、パンプキンを選んで、パンプキンパイを食べて、パンプキン三昧でした。そのあと家でハロウィンのためパンプキンを加工しました。パンプキンが好きになりました。本当です。

そして、9月の終わりにはサウスダコタ州に旅行に行って来ました。そこでは、Mt. Rushmore（大統領の顔が４つ並んでるやつ）を見たり、Bear Country（サファリパーク）に行ったりして、アメリカを感じました。

テレビで見ていたものを実際に目で見たり感じたりするのはまた一味違うなと思いました。特に、初めてのサファリパークは興奮しました。ガラス一枚挟んだすぐそこには、熊や狼だけでなく、日本では見ることのできないバッファローなどのおっかない動物がたくさんいました。普通に怖かったです。

 

そしてハロウィン！！！仮装して学校に登校。私の傷メイク、みんな褒めてくれました！夕方は隣人にお菓子ねだりに行きました！家の装飾が本格的な人もいて楽しかったです。そのあとは仮装したままアイススケートに行きました。二ドルでスケート・ピザ・ドリンク放題って素敵だと思いませんか。

 

そしてそして11/6は私の誕生日！友達やファミリーが手紙やプレゼント、ケーキを用意してくれて本当に嬉しかったです。素敵な誕生日でした！
と言いたいところなんですけど、、、日本の家族が送ってくれたプレゼントが本当なら当日に到着してたはずなんですけど、アメリカの配達は結構雑で、家の前にポン置くだけでサインもなしなので、一週間以上行方不明でした。誰かに盗まれたかと思ってガチで落ち込んでました笑

 

楽しいことばっかり書きましたが、感情の落差が激しくて泣きたいくらい悲しい時ももちろん頻繁にあります。でもこのままでは日本に帰れないし帰りたくないし、頑張らないといけないので気合を入れて長いようで短い残りの期間を乗り越えていこうと思います。

Hi, It‘s been a while! I’m Yuri. I have been here for almost 3 month. I feel time passes quickly. But I miss Japan like “I wanna come back to Japan” or “I have 7 more months!?” the day I had bad day. And I felt a lot of things that I’ve never felt in Japan. I don’t know if I can put my thoughts together well but I’m glad if you will read this all.

 

Beginning of the September, I went to Pumpkin Patch to get some pumpkin for Halloween with my family and friends. Actually I felt Autumn because there are some scarecrow and red leaves or like that. Also Some events and games that feels like America was held there. And then we choose pumpkin, eat pumpkin pie, I felt a lot of pumpkin. It made me like pumpkin, it’s true. After I get home, I made pumpkin for Halloween.

Even if I do say so, does the pumpkin look great? Doesn’t it? Love pumpkin!

 

And the end of the September, I went to South Dakota with my family and friend for trip. We went to Mt. Rushmore, Bear Country and like that and felt what America is like.

I thought there is actually some difference between just watch on TV and go to watch.

Especially, I was exciting to go to Bear Country because there is some bear, wolf and buffalo which is we can’t see in Japan. And there were really scared.

 

And then Halloween!! We went to school with costume and also make up like Zombie.

My friends, even some students I don’t know like my costume and make up. I was happy.

In the evening, we visited neighbor to get snacks and chocolates. Some neighbor decollated their house, those were really cool.

 

Next! Long-awaited event, my birthday! My host family, even some friends gave me gifts and a cake! I was really happy and had great time that day! ,,,but sadly, the present from my Japanese family wasn’t delivered for over a week. It supposed to be deliver that day.

The reason why it wasn’t delivered is the post officer here put our stuff in front of house without sign. We can’t know where it goes so I was really disappointed. Maybe I didn’t know that the gift was in our city if my Japanese mother didn’t tell me that she sent birthday gift to me. I felt what America is like. Haha

 

I wrote only good things, but there are more sad things as much as I wrote. My emotional ups and downs are erratic everyday. I know I can’t and don’t wanna go back to Japan right now. So I have to keep on going (only?) for 6 months in here.
