アメリカに留学中の東井　優夏さんから第二回目の留学報告が届きました。

皆さん、こんにちは　お元気ですか？　東井優夏です。ニューヨーク州は１１月末に雪が降りました。雪降った初日にsnow　dayという休校になりました。ほんの少しの雪なんですけどね。（笑）

 

私が学校に通い始めて一か月がたったぐらいのころ、まさかの学校を変えなければいけないことをホストマザーから告げられました。なぜなら、私のホストファミリーの家が違う学校の区域で、スクールバスで通うことができなくなるためでした。正直やっと学校になれ仲良しの友達もいて、変えるのはつらかったです。またすべて一からやり直すのは簡単なことではありませんでした。留学が始まるころ、ホストファミリーは変わるかもしれないけど、学校は変わることはないからねと言われていたのに変わったんです。留学は試練の連続ですね。

 

というわけで、新しい学校のことについて話したいと思います。前の学校と決して遠くはないMexico central　and academy high school という学校に通っています。前の学校より小さく、学校によって大きく違うんだなと思います。履修している教科、学校の様子、先生や友達の雰囲気、全然違います。そこで、私が履修している科目で珍しいであろう教科について紹介します。JROTC（The Army Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps）です。簡単に説明すると軍隊になるための高校生のためのアメリカで行われている公式なプログラムで、トレーニングをしたり、軍隊の心意気を勉強したりします。かなり本格的で軍隊のユニフォームを着て練習することもあります。この間、アメリカ海軍ができたことを祝うためのパーティーがありました。写真はその時のものです。この経験はとても貴重だと心から思いますし、何より先生や生徒がいい人たちばかりで、彼らに出会えたことだけでも挑戦してよかったです。最初は説明が理解できず、何の教科で何をするかもわからず、履修してたんですけどね。（笑）

 

さて、サンクスギビングというアメリカの祝日についてお話したいと思います。この祝日は、食べ物や食べ物を作ってくれる人に感謝する日です。私はホストマザーのお母さんの家に行きました。私の家族は２０人ぐらいでテーブルを囲んで、各が持ち寄った特別なサンクスギビングの料理を食べました。皆が、それぞれの作ってくる料理を楽しみにしてるんです。デザートは５種類もあってどれもおいしくて食べすぎました。（笑）　料理を食べた後は、みんなでビンゴをしたり、カードゲームをしたりしました。その次の日はブラックフライデーというどこもセールになって物が安く買える夢の日です。調子に乗って買いすぎました。（笑）

 

もうすぐ今年が終わりますね。とても早くて信じられませんが今できることを精一杯やりたいです。

Hi how are you everyone? I’m Yuna. Finery New York that I stay got snow in end of November. I got snow day which school is off although it is little bit snow. I can’t believe that year of 2017 is coming after about a month!

 

After I had gone to high school a month, my mother told me that I have to move to different high school because my family lives in different school district and school bus is not going to come to my house. To be honest with you it was hard to change the school because I already have many friends. I had to start again. I knew that I’m not going to change the school even host family might change. I wondered trouble is keep coming in study abroad.

 

Anyways, I’m ging to talk about my new school, name is Mexico central and academy high school. The school is smaller than old high school. I thought there are big different each school like atmosphere of students and teachers and situation of class. So I want to introduce one of class which I take and unusually. It called JROTC (The Army Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps), it’s program for student to become army in the U.S. You do physical training, learn about leadership, and community services. You wear uniform and practice in the class. I had birth ball which is party to celebrate for birthday of marine corps. I showed on one of picture. This experiences is extraordinary for me and I’m so glad to meet my classmate and teaches are so nice even I didn’t understand what kind of class I’m going to take. haha

 

I’m going to talk about thanksgiving to appreciate for foods and people who make them.  I went to my gramma’s house and then eat special food which made by member of family. Everyone was looking forward to eat them because they are thanksgiving dishes. I had too much foods on that day. There are 20 people and hangout with them like do bingo and card games. Next day was black Friday which every store was sale! It was fun and great holiday.

 

2016 is going to be finished soon, I can’t believe it. I’ll do my best as much as I can.
