アメリカに留学中の竹内沙莉衣さんから第3回目の留学報告が届きました。

こんにちは！フロリダ州に留学している竹内沙莉衣です。もうこのレポートで３回目になり、アメリカに来てから５ヶ月も経ちました。５ヶ月が経ったということは、留学の半分が終わったことを意味するので、少し焦りが出てきているこの頃です、、、

前のレポートから２ヶ月が経ちましたが、この２ヶ月は新しい出会いと別れがあった２ヶ月でした。新しく出会ったのはサッカーチームの仲間です。高校のフットボールシーズンが終わったので、ハーフタイムにパフォーマンスすることもなくなり、何か新しいことに挑戦したいなと思っていたときに、ホストマザーがサッカーやってみる？と言ってくれたので、スポーツが好きな私には断る理由もなく未経験ながらチームに入りました。私のチームは小学生から高校生までいて、それぞれレベルもバラバラでした。初めての練習は、初心者の私には不安でしたが、ホストシスターとブラザーも同じチームに入っていたので少し心強かったです。数週間練習した後、本格的に他のチームとのゲームが始まりました。男女混合でゲームするので、なかなかハードです、、でもスポーツはやっぱり楽しいです。今は週３回もゲームがあるので、忙しいです、、、そして、女子のフットボールも始まるのでそれにも参加する予定です。

そして別れもありました。私のホストシスターの９歳の男の子の友達が１２歳の男の子に銃で撃たれて亡くなりました。ホストシスターは１２歳なのですが、彼女の友達がよく家に遊びに来ていて、その中の一人でした。私もよく一緒に遊んでいた子だったので、すごくショックは大きかったです、、、その事が起きたのは私たちの家から歩いて５分くらいのところだったので、怖くもありました。身を守るための銃が、まだたった９歳の可愛い男の子を殺してしまう凶器になってしまうことはとても恐ろしいことです。日本ではこのような事件は滅多に起こりませんが、銃を持つことが禁止されていないアメリカではたくさん起こり得ることはとても悲しいことで、考えさせられました。もうこのような事が起きないことを祈るばかりです。

話は変わりますが、皆さんは楽しいクリスマス、お正月を過ごしましたか？家族がいないクリスマスとお正月は少し物足りなく寂しさがありましたが、ホストファミリーと楽しく過ごしました。クリスマスにはファミリーや友達からたくさんのプレゼントをもらいました。私は親から送ってもらった日本の物をおかえししました。私のファミリーは日本がすごく好きなので、私があげた物をすごく気に入ってくれて嬉しかったです。日本から送ってくれた親にも感謝です。

元旦は１２歳のホストシスターと一緒に大声でカウントダウンしながらむかえました笑

学校生活はとても充実していて、成績もいい感じで、毎日楽しんでいます。最近では、友達から英語上手くなったねと言われて、自分でも少しずつですが上達しているのを感じます。学校でのランチの時も一番仲の良い子と二人で食べていますが、ずっと話が尽きずランチ終了のベルが鳴ってもずっとしゃべっているくらいで、とても楽しいです。

もう半分しか残っていない留学。何事もためらっている時間はないので、もっと積極的になって、次のレポートではさらに成長した自分についてかけるように努力したいと思います。

 Hi guys! I am Sarii Takeuchi who is studying abroad in Florida. It is the third time to

Turn in report, it means five months have passed since I came to the United States. Since five months have passed, it means that half of the study abroad is over, so it is around this time that it is getting a bit impatient ,,,

Two months have passed since the previous report, but there was a new encounter and parting. I met a new soccer team member. The high school football season was over, so it means we do not have band performance anymore. When I think that I want to challenge something new, my host mother asked me Do you want to play soccer? There is no reason to refuse so I entered the team with inexperience. My team ranged from elementary school students to high school students, and their levels were disjointed. The first practice was uneasy for beginners like me, but Host Sister and Brother are in the same team, so I was a bit reassured. After practicing for several weeks, the game with other teams began. It’s quite hard to play games with a mix of boys and girls, but sports is so fun. I have a game 3 times a week now, so I am very busy ,,, and girls’ football will also start so I’m planning to join it.

And there was also parting. My host sister ‘s 9 years old friend who is a boy died. Because a 12 years old boy was shoot him with a gun. Host Sister is 12 years old, but her friends often come to play at our home and he was one of them. He is a my friend and we were also playing with together, so the shock was very big ,,, that happened was about 5 minutes walking from our house, so I was afraid. It is a terrible thing. Gun is supposed to protect myself, but it can be a weapon that can kill only a 9 years old pretty boy. In Japan, such incidents rarely are not happen, but in America that is not forbidden to have guns, so it can happen too easy. That is so sad. I just hope that this will not happen anymore.

Although the story changes, did you have a happy Christmas and New Year ‘s Day? When I spend Christmas and New Year ‘s Day without my family is a little bit loneliness, but I had a good time with my host family. The day of Christmas I got lots of presents from my family and friends. And I also gave to my host family Japanese stuff which my parents sent me. My host family love, so it was a happy to have liked the stuff which I gave. I am also thankful to my parents foe sent me from Japan.

When the New Year ‘s  Day me and my little host sister were counting down. It was funny.

School life is very fulfilling, I got good grades, and I am having fun every day. Recently, one of my friend told me that I got better in English, and I feel that I am progressing little by little even by myself. Even at lunch time at school, I am eating with the best friend, but we have been talking all the time and we’ve been talking all the time even though the bell rings at the end of the lunch, and it is a lot of fun.

Studying abroad which has only half remaining. Since there is no time to hesitate in anything, I will be more aggressive and I would like to make an effort to put about my further growth in the next report.
