カナダに留学中の本木　ふらのさんから第1回目の留学報告が届きました。

こんにちは。カナダのマニトバ州に留学中の本木ふらのです。皆さん元気ですか？カナダに来て一か月が経ち、少しずつですがカナダの生活に慣れてきました。カナダは自然がとても綺麗で心を奪われるような景色ばかりです。自然が好きな私にとって毎日変わる空の景色を見ることは一つの楽しみです。

 

まず、二週間の研修についてお話しします。研修はBrandonという町の大学でカナダのお金や挨拶の仕方、地形などについて詳しく学びました。課外研修は少なかったですが、たくさんのことを学べた、とても充実した二週間でした。この二週間の間に私をホストして下さったファミリーとはたくさんの思い出ができました。庭に今まで見たことがないくらい大きなプールがあったので研修後はほぼ毎日、マザーと彼女の友達と泳いでました。おかげで今までにないくらい日焼けをしてしまいました（笑）一緒にダンスをしたり、二日続けて夜遅くまでwii bowlingをして盛り上がったり…とカナダでしかできない体験をたくさんしました。さすがに二日続けてのwii bowlngは筋肉痛になったのですが…（笑）それもとても良い思い出です。

 

今はRussellという小さな町でファザー、マザー、そして14歳、6歳、5歳の三人のブラザーと暮らしています。私自身、妹が二人いるので男の子の兄弟がいるのはとても新鮮です。ファミリーはとても親切でfootballを観に行くために四時間も離れたとこに連れて行ってくれたり、毎日おいしいご飯を作ってくれます。ブラザー達はあまり食べないので、私が最後まで食卓に残り、一人でたらふく食事をしている日もあります（笑）食事のときは全員でテーブルを囲んで学校であったことや自分のことについて話すので食事の時間は楽しみです。Russellは自分が思っていたよりも寒く、最近の朝は4度・5度だったのでもう冬がきたのではないかと一人で疑っています（笑）「すんごく寒いね」と言うと「冬は‐２０度とかだからもっと寒いのよ～」とみんなに言われます（笑）なのにRussellに来て14か所も蚊に刺されてしまいました。カナダの蚊は私のことが大好きみたいです。学校が始まって一週間が経とうとしていますが毎日が驚きの連続です。授業中にご飯を食べていたり、授業が終わってから家に帰るのが早かったり…と、気づいたら廊下に私しかいない日がほとんどです（笑）しかし、どれもこれも文化の違いでそれを毎日発見するのが楽しいです。また、休み時間が3分しかないことにとても驚きました。最初知ったときは「カップラーメンと同じじゃないか！」と思ってしまいました（笑）３分の中でいかにすばやく行動できるかが勝負です。部活は北星でもやっていたバレー部に入りました。背が高い人ばかりで、初日はコーチの指示やバレーの専門用語が英語に聞こえなかったくらい指示されていることが分からなかったので一人だけ変な動きをしたり違うとこにいたり…と混乱することばかりでした。しかし、今では仲間が教えてくれたり自分でも少しですが理解できるようになりました。今月、大会があるのでプレート応援に全力を尽くしたいと思います！

 

毎日時間が過ぎるのがあっという間なことにすごく驚いています。家族の元をこんなに長く離れるのは初めてなので最初は不安でしたが、改めていつもどれだけ私を支えてくれてるかがよく分かりました。自分のためにも日本で応援してくれている家族や友達のためにも一日一日を大切に過ごそうと思います。とにかく今は一日も早く学校に慣れ、何事も積極的にミスを恐れずやっていきたいと思います！！！ここまで読んで下さってありがとうございました！それではまた次回のレポートで！

 

Hi from Canada. I’m Furano. How are you doing? I have become used to my life in Canada with very slow pace, though. Canada has a beautiful scenery and nature, so such as deprived of my heart.  Seeing the empty scenery that changes every day is one of my favorite things because I like the nature.

 

First, I’m going to talk about training cource. I learned about money of Canada, how to greet, and landform in Brandon university. Extracurricular activities were lower, but I learned a lot of things, so I lead a full time. I was able to a lot of memories with my host family. There is a so big pool in the garden, so I was swimming with my host mother and her friends after I finished the training cource almost every day. Because of that, I have a sunburn that haven’t ever been. I danced with my host family, bowled until late at night for two nights in a row. I experienced a lot of things that I can only in Canada. True to their reputation, I became getting sore my shoulder because I did that two days. But it was only a good memory.

 

Now I live in Russell with father, mather and three younger brothers. I have two younger sisters, so I’m felting very refreshed. My host family is so kind because they took me in Winnipeg to watch the football, make me a wonderful meal every day. My host brothers are not eat much, so I always eat a lot of food after they finished eating a meal. When we eat a meal, we sit around the table while we are talking. So I always look forward to eat them. Russell was so colder than I thought because the temperature was 4,5 degree these days, so I think cold winter came on. I said 「Canada is so cold!」but everyone said 「The winter will be cold more because the temperature will be -20 degree!」Though here is so cold, I was bitten by a lot of mosquitoes 14 parts! That was terrible! I think mosquitoes in Canada love me haha. A week has passed since the school started, but every day is filled with surprises. Some eats breakfast, and the other get back their home so fast. I found myself in corridor only me. But it is a difference of culture each and every, so I’m enjoying find it every day. Also, I was surpried the break time has only 3 minutes! When I first know, I thought 「Cup noodles are same time!」3 minutes is very important for me.

 

I joined the volleyball team. Almost girls are tall, and I couldn’t understand what the coach were taiking about the first day, so I was in different movement only me because I became so confused. But I came to understand with very slow pace, because the teammates teach me. This month, I will have a game. So I will do my best!

 

I was so surprised because time really does fly. Because I leave home and live a long time, I was worried. But I came to realize again how much gratitude my family deserved. I will live one day at a time for me, my family, and my friends. Anyway I want to get used to the school day as soon as possible, and I’ll try everything actively without fearing failure!!!
