アメリカに留学中の坂本　晴香さんから第二回目の留学報告が届きました。

こんにちは！2枚目です。坂本です。
実はレポート1から結構時がたっててその間に色々楽しいことあって、全部書きたいくらいですけど、今回は学校の事中心に書きたいので軽めに紹介しますね～

まずはhomecoming。つまんなかったーって友達がいたり楽しかったって友達がいたりして、自分の学校はどうなんだってちょっと心配してたんですけど….すっごい楽しかったです。
体育館全体が白い幕で覆われて、ブラックライトを設置といったスタイル。前の方にDJブース的なのがあって今流行りのダンスミュージックだったり一昔前の曲だったり。そしてたまにかかるスローミュージックのときはカップルが抱き合いながら踊ってました。羨ましい。
チケット$15とかマジかよって思いましたがとにかく楽しめたので良し。
Homecomingの週は毎日○○dayといったものがあって、指定された服装で学校に行きます。黒色で統一したり、ハワイアンな格好だったり結構楽しかったです。

学校に通い初めて2ヶ月ほどたちました。最初は教室も地図を見なきゃわかんなかったし、授業のやり方やランチも全く別でビビりましたがもうさすがにアメリカの学校のスタイルに慣れました笑
授業中はけっこう自由です。美術の時間では先生が youtubeから音楽を流してくれたり、ほぼ全部の授業飲み食いOK です。私は毎時間何か食べるってことはしませんが、3時間目はよくクッキー食べながら絵描いてます。

スマホ事情ですが、結構授業で使います。うちの学校ではGoogle classroom というアプリを使う先生が多くて、それをつかってテストの連絡をしたり、レポートを提出したり、あと教科書なんかも先生がオンラインバージョンのリンクを貼ってくれるのでほぼ分厚い本は使ってませんね。授業中もスマホで調べながらプリントを進めていくことが多いです。
ホワイトボードもあまり使わないです。先生がワードで作ったものをスクリーンに写し出してそれをノートに取っていくことが多いです。

ランチタイムはA,B,Cランチに30分ごとくらいに分かれています。私はCランチで、留学生の友達と食べてます。
でも最初はもちろん一緒に食べる友達なんていなかったしシスターとは授業もランチタイムもなにも被ってないので、ほぼ1人行動です。先輩の体験談でよく聞いた「カフェテリアに行くのが怖くてトイレで食べた」説。絶対にそれはやりたくないって思ってたのでもう思い切って皆が集うカフェテリアに入って、普通に1人で食べてる子の隣に座って食べてました笑 この時大事なのは「いや、留学生だし初日だし、友達いないの当たり前じゃん？」って気持ちを持つこと。ずっと持ってたらだめですよ。さすがに友達できませんから笑 でも最初の1週間くらいは「いや留学生だし知らないことばっかで当たり前じゃん？」精神で行ったら結構なんでもできちゃいますよ～

放課後はそんな活発なことはしてないですが、毎週火曜日は近くのダンス教室に通ってます！ヒップホップを習ってて、結構前からダンスは習ってたのでまた始められて嬉しいです。
あとこっちの人ってbondfire という薪みたいなことをよくするみたいです。私の家もたまーにして、夜に友達を呼んで火を囲みながらスナック食べたり焼きマシュマロしたりしますね。

そういえばこの前ハロウィンでした。私は骸骨のメイクと服装で参戦。シスターはプリンセスでした。
人生初のトリックオアトリートはなかなか楽しかったです。沢山の家がハロウィン仕様にデコレーションされて結構ハロウィンガチ勢の家庭もあって歩くだけでも楽しかったです。
お菓子はちっちゃいジャコランタンのバックにでも入れるのかと思ったら、シスターが枕カバーを用意してくれました。こっちも中々のガチ勢でした。

ファミリーは毎月何かしらのイベントに連れて行ってくれます。9月にはルネサンスフェスティバルという昔のアメリカを再現したおとぎ話のような世界観のお祭りに連れてってくれたり、10月にはオハイオの馬フェスみたいなやつに行きました。うちは馬を飼っているので、馬のための用品をたくさん買ってました。カウボーイがたくさんいてなかなか渋かったです。

次はthanksgivingです。
実は私の誕生日とかぶっていて、thanksgivingの伝統的な食事で自分の誕生日を祝うことになるのでとても貴重な体験になりそうです!!!

Hello everyone! this is my second term. Actually It almost 2 months have passed since I’ve written my first term and I stayed so many good times during this period. I wanna share my all of my stories with you guys but it’s too many and also I wanna talk about my school life so I’ll share you a few part of them;)

I went to homecoming on 1st of Oct. I known my Japanese friends said “my hoco sucked” and “my hoco was great!!”. So I was worried about what if my hoco was boring?….. but it was fun. I really enjoyed the night.

My high school’s gym was covered with white curtain and black lights was set up in the gym. There is a DJ booth in the front and it played popular dance music, 90’s music and when it played slow music, some couples were dancing and boyfriend held girlfriend tight in his arm…. So jealous.
I was like “omg, the ticket costs $15 to go hoco! it’s pretty expensive.” but  it was fun so I don’t care;)
During hoco week we have special day everyday until hoco night and we go to school wearing common clothes like all black and Hawaiian.

2 months have passed since I’ve gone to school for the first time. I couldn’t go to my class without school map also the way to move class, lunch time… everything was different with Japanese school life so I was so confusing. But now, I’m used to it.

I feel during the class is so free. At my art class, the teacher plays music from youtube everyday and we can eat and drink in most of class. I don’t eat during all of my class but I like to eat cookies when I am drawing at my 3rd hour art class:))

I use smartphone a lot in my classes. Some teachers use the app called “Google classroom” to tell us about the quiz, turn my assay, and my teacher posts some links of online textbook so we don’t often use books. So we usually use own smartphone to search and do my homework. Also teachers don’t use white board because they use word and project it onto the screen. 

We have A,B and C lunch and It is divided every 30 min. I have C lunch with my exchange student friends. of course I did’t have friends to eat together and I don’t have same class and even lunch time with host sis so I’m almost alone but I don’t wanna eat in the bathroom like some hokusei’s senpai so I went to cafeteria and sat next to a girl who was eating alone. I think the most important things is to thinking ” I’m a exchange student and I don’t have friend yet. So what?”. You must’t think it forever because you wouldn’t make friends but first week of school, you have to think about it. Thanks to this, I could challenge many things.

After school, I don’t active but I go to dance lesson every Tuesday with host sis. I’ve been learning hiphop now and I’ve done it since long time ago so I’m glad to start it again:)

And we sometimes do bondfire and invite some friends. We sit around the fire and eat some snacks, talk, and toast marshmallows.

Actually It was Halloween last week. I put on skull make up and clothes, my sis dressed up as a princess.
My first trick or treating was pretty fun. Many houses were decorated with Halloween stuff and some of them put too concentrate on Halloween.
I thought we bring a small jack o’lantern
basket but sis brought me a pillow cover. We put concentrate on Halloween, too haha.

My host family take me some events every month. On Sep, we went to the Renaissance festival. It looks like the old American downtown and fairlyland.
Also on Oct, we went to horse festival in Ohio because we have houses so my host mom bought many horse stuff there. I found many cowboys. They were so subdued.

Next event is….. yes!!! Thanksgiving day!!! Actually my birthday and thanksgiving day are same day so I will celebrated with thanksgiving’s traditional meals:))  It’s gonna be precious moment, isn’t it???
