カナダに留学中の角町　ことみさんから第三回目の留学報告が届きました。

Merry Christmas そしてHappy new year! みなさんいかがお過ごしですか？ことみです。本当に濃い2ヶ月でした。札幌は寒いと思うので風邪ひかないようにしてね🙂 Brandonは本当に寒くて−28度の日がありました。それでも休校になるには十分な寒さではなくて-45度にならないと休めないんです。ひどいはなしです。話しがとびましたが、本当にいろんなことがあったので時系列にそって話します。11月にFootball Banquitがありました。それは私の学校のフットボールチームのためのパーティーでシーズン終わりに開かれるものなのですが、わたしのブラザーがフットボールをやっていて、実はファザーがそのチームのコーチをしているのでわたしもSteeves family の一員として参加しました。パーティーは4時間ほどあって途中で飽きたりしましたが、楽しかったです。ブラザーが今年のアワードを取ったんです！そして彼の親友のJoeといっしょにGrade12へのスピーチもしていました。スーツを着ているファザーを見たのは初めてだったので新鮮でした。カナダの学校では教師だからといって毎日スーツを着なければいけないわけではないんです。私のことを家族と同じように扱ってくれるファミリーに感謝しています。そのパーティーの時に取った写真をマザーがNew years cardにしてくれました！そのことを知った時ほんとにうれしかったです。そのパーティーが始まる前に会場の飾り付けの手伝いをしました。12月はクリスマスです！みんな知っているとは思いますがクリスマスがカナダで最大の祝日です。宗教的なことを考慮してMerry Christmas とは公の場では書かれていないんです。なので、かわりにHappy Holidayを使います。こっちの人は1ヶ月前ぐらいからクリスマスの準備をし始めるんですが、ファザーはクレイジーな季節だと言っていました。笑 街や家の中がクリスマスの飾りでいっぱいですごく楽しかったです！クリスマスツリーがまさかの本物の木でもちろん私は今まで見たことがなかったのでわくわくでした。そしてプレゼントの量がとんでもないんです！25日の朝にファザーに起こされて上に行ったらすでにvavaたちが来ていてプレゼント開けるよ！と言われ、結局4時間かけてみんなであけました。それでプレゼントは終わりだと思っていたのですが、26日の朝にまた起こされて次はなんだと思ったらクリスマスソックスをあけるよと言われてまだあったんかとびっくりしました。クリスマスに比べて大晦日は特別ではなくて私は日本のお正月の方が好きです。だっておせちもなくてガキ使とカウコンのない年越しは年越しと認めがたいものがあります。お正月だけ日本に帰りたかったです。笑 年を越したのでこの留学もあと6ヶ月となりました。今まで過ごしていてなんで同じ人間なのに言語はことなるんだろうと思うことが何回もありました。同じ言語だったらもっと全部が簡単になるのにな〜と思ったのですが、優しさや思いやる心は全く同じだと気付きました。この留学が終わったらファミリーがこの子をホストしてよかったと思われるように、後悔の残らないよう全力で走りきります！ここまで読んでくれてありがとうございました。次のレポートで会いましょう🙂

Merry Christmas and Happy new year everyone! It’s Kotomi! How you guys doing? I’m doing pretty good. I guess Sapporo is pretty cold out side so take care yourself. It’s super freezing here like 28 degrees below zero. Lol Well, it was very concentrated two month. I had lots of exciting things so I’m gonna talk about them in order. First of all, I had foot ball banquit on November. It’s like party for foot ball players in VM foot ball team. I guess you know it already, but I should say it again.  My host brother plays foot ball and my host dad is coach of the team. That’s kind of funny, don’t you think? Anyway, I went the party because I’m one of Steeves family. I really appreciate that they treat me as same as family. So I helped to decorate there before the party start. The party was kinda long like four hours and I had fun! My brother got most character award. Also he had speech with his bbf. It was greenness for me to see such a formal Sam. Lol At that time, we took family picture and guess what? Mom used the picture to new years card! I’m already sad to think that I have to leave here and my Canadian family.

Second, I had big Christmas! Japan should celebrate Christmas like Canada and USA, I swear! I loved Christmas when I was in japan, but not much as Canadian one. Christmas is biggest holiday in Canada so people prepare for it about a month. Dad said it’s crazy season. Lol My sis loves Christmas very much so it’s all Christmas inside house. There are big Christmas tree, mistletoe and Christmas lights on roofs. The Christmas tree is real tree! Can you believe that? I’ve never see real one before so that’s big fun! I got tons of presents from host family and grand parents. Of course, I gave gifts to all oh them. I was proud that they loved my gifts.  So it took four hours to open all gifts under the tree. Every gifts are specific, but the best one is ornament that shapes tree and engraved my name. it made me almost crying lol. I thought it’s over but it wasn’t. Dad works me up on 26^th morning and we opened stocking! I almost forgot about Christmas socks because I got too enough 25^th. Anyway, it was the best holiday ever!

Speaking of holidays, new years eve was quit so I like Japanese one better. That was culture shock actually. I felt strange because there’s no osechi and new years TV show that I’ve seen so far. I’m too sad that I missed Johnney’s count down concert. Well these are good experience tho. Four month are already passed so I should work harder than before and I have to talk a lot! I thought why languages are different cuz we’re all same human. However, I noticed kindness is completely same.OMG Tomorrow(1/9) gonna start school. It’s too short!  Well that’s all for this time.
