アメリカに留学中の 紺野 真由 さんから第三回目の留学報告が届きました。

Hey guys! I’m Mayu. How are you doing? I’m doing great! I’m already wearing sleeveless shirt even now is on March. California’s weather is very hot and sunny. It’s one of the reason that I love here! One day, in the early morning I saw the pink and purple sky. It was so pretty. I’m sad if I think I’m gonna leave from here for three more month…:( Anyway, last time that I wrote my report was surprisingly, 4 month ago in November. At that time, I was thinking about March is very far away from now, but time goes by so fast! While this 4 month, I have many events and happens, so I’m gonna introduce some of these.

So in November as during thanksgiving break, I went to Seattle, Washington State w/ my family. We went to the space needle that is very popular tower in seattle, and I did foot nail at the store for the first time. It was so cool and feel so good! And Seattle is very famous as starbucks ’s birthplace in America. So I expected to go the first starbucks shop, but we got it at another store. lol I could get my fav Java chip anyway so I don’t care. How straightforward person I am. lol On December 24th, the day was my birthday. From in the morning, my host brothers were singing like “ happy birthday to you happy birthday to you happy birthday dear Mayu!” They always make me happy and smile. Then we went to steak restaurant with my family. When we finished our meal, the worker brought like a riding horse thing and a bandana. And then I mounted this thing. People started to sing and celebrate my birthday! Then at last, everyone said “heehaw” like a cowboy. It was very funny but a little bit embarrassing at the same time.lol And also I got present that is a watch from my host mom. It’s so cute and I love it. I have used it everyday since the day! In December 25th was christmas day. Before the day, my host parents was preparing presents for the next day. I was really surprise at the amount of presents. Because they put a ton of presents under the christmas tree even there are 5 kids in this family. So I told them that in Japan, we usually get only one present other words, we should choose just one present. They were like very surprised at my saying like “ Really? Are you sure? Why?” This is one of big different things between Japan and America. Then on christmas day, I got a lot of presents which are sweat shirt, perfume, nail polish, knit hat, eyeshadow palette, lips palette and so on. I had the best christmas day ever!

On New Year’s day, I hangout with my friends. We did s’more, and we made own new year’s resolution. I said I’m not gonna be shy anymore, don’t be lazy anymore, be more active! When we greeted the New Year, we watched the TV that is countdown in New York city, then we lived it up at outside the house! I had so much fun! In America, we don’t celebrate the New year so much like we celebrate the first three days of a new year, so I didn’t go through to be lazy those days like I usually get through days in the bed all day long. lol

And about activities, I really wanted to join cheerleading club in here, but unfortunately the tryouts was already done so I couldn’t. So I started to go hip hop dance class since January. I really wanted to learn hip hop dance in America, so it was great experience for me. My teacher taught me about passion, how to control own body to dance, and expression of emotion besides dance. Dance is part of my life so I’m really glad to learn these through these seven weeks. And before winter break, I went to winter ball which is dance party it was held by school. I met new friends at there, then we just danced! America’s party is so crazy like it was just as I had expected.
On top of that, I had realized many things through this study abroad. First, study abroad is not just to learn English. I really would like people who are going to study abroad to know about this. I have known my fact weakness. I actually faced own weakness a lot of times through this opportunity. I am literally shy person, likely to compromise and not likely to openly show my feelings.

One time, I was up a build alley and couldn’t see what was happening about me. Then after that, I realized that I really need to make more communicate. That’s one reason of I got in trouble with my host family. I didn’t tell my feelings to them so much. After I realized about it, I started to talk a lot more than past days. Like I speak to myself in my house in Japan. At that time, I was scared to talk with people in English a little bit. Because I didn’t have confidence. But right now, I have confidence so I can talk positively about anything that I thought. I think this change made my English skill better also. I have learned and absorbed a bunch of things for this seven month. I’m really really surprised at time goes by so fast. I’m excited what I’m gonna absorb for remaining three month. At the same time, it reminds me that I have to lose my weight for three month! lol I absorbed so many fat also so…Anyway! I’ll spend the precious days the best possible way.
