アメリカに留学中の濱崎友理さんから第3回目の留学報告が届きました。

お久しぶりです、ノースダコタ州に留学中の濱崎友理です。ここ最近はすっかり寒くなって-20℃という気温にもう驚かなくなりました。寒さといえば、この間、親指だけ出る手袋を履いて雪かきを手伝っていたら、親指が凍って凍傷しました。一週間経った今もまだ指に違和感を感じます。人生で初めて寒さに恐ろしさを感じました。

 少し振り返って、クリスマスの話。家族みんなにクリスマスプレゼントを買って当日前にツリーの下に全員分のプレゼントを置いておきます。その量が半端じゃないくらい多くて開封するのがとても楽しみでした。私のファミリーのプレゼント方式は、子供はクリスマスリストを書いてその中から親が選んでプレゼントしてくれるというものでした。アメリカのクリスマス最高ですね。好き。

その分、家族に渡すプレゼントを考えるのも大変だったんですけどね(^_^;)

 クリスマスの後は年越し。大掃除したり年越しそば食べたりなんてしないわけで、そんなに特別感はありませんでした。年越しの瞬間はホストペアレンツとシスターとシスターの彼氏とUNOしてました。年越しの瞬間私以外はチューしてたのでなんか取り残されたみたいで悲しくなってたら、シスターがチューしてくれました❤️日本との時差はもちろん、アメリカ内でも時差はあるので、テレビでカウントダウンされてるのに私の州は後２時間後、なんてこともあって変な感じだねってファザーと話したのを覚えてます。私は毎年大晦日の日は朝まで起きてようとしますが、その日はみんな夜中の２時に解散したので即寝ました。正直全然年越しした感じしませんでした。そして年越しを意味するのは、留学期間の折り返し地点。早いなあ。楽しんでるからなのかただ時間を無駄にしているのか、後者でないことを祈りますが時々自信がなくなります。

 私には約11日間しかクリスマス休みがなかったわけで、1月3日には学校が始まります。その日から私は今までとは違う学校に通っています。今の学校では、バスケットボールチームにも参加できていてとても嬉しいです。スポーツすることは私の中で私をリフレッシュするのに欠かせないものだし、友達の輪も増えるしで良いことばかりです。チームメイトも優しい人ばかりで安心しました。学校、変えてよかったと思います。やっと、という感じで生活が充実してきたのかなと思います。英語力は全然まだまだです。ペラペラなんてもんじゃないです。なんとか生きてる、通じてるっていう感じです。ぎこちない日本語になってきて、英語も満足に話せないなんて情けないですね。どっちかは完璧にしたいものです。

 さて、あと4,5ヶ月間しか残されてないわけですが、友達に”本当に留学したの？”なんて言われないように頑張りたいところです。

 Long time no see guys! I am Yuri lives in North Dakota. I am not surprised that it’s -20℃ here no more because it’s really cold these days. Speaking of the cold, I helped shoveling snow outside with the glove that comes out only thumb and my thumb was frozen. I still feel weird my finger even now after a week. I felt awfulness about the cold for the first time.

 Anyway, lets talk about Christmas. I bought any presents for my host family and put them under the Christmas tree the day before Christmas. There are many many many presents under the tree. I was excited to open them. How my host family get us presents is, we write down what we want, and they chose some of them. It was awesome! I LOVE it.

But it was hard to think what I get my family.

 Speaking of after Christmas is, New year’s day! I played UNO with my host parents and sister and her boyfriend instead of cleaning room and eating SOBA. New year’s moment, they kissed each other. But there is no my partner, so I acted I am sad, and host sister tried to give me a kiss❤ I was glad she would do that. Lol As you know, we have a time difference between Japan and America and we have a time difference in America too.

When the announcer who is in other states in the TV said countdown, we still had 2 hours more. I remember that I talked about it with dad.

And, new year means I am already done with half of my study abroad life. It seems like really fast to me. I don’t know it’s because of I enjoy it or I just waste of time. I hope it’s not second one, but I do not have confidence sometimes.

  I had only ten days for Christmas break. I go to the school from January 3^rd, and I have been going different school. I also join basketball team here. I have wanted to join any team in American school, so I’m really glad to play sports with them. It’s necessary for me to playing sport to refresh myself. And I could make a few friends there. I think it was good decision to change school.

 I cannot say my English skills are really good. I still struggle talking in English sometimes. It’s getting hard to write Japanese well and I cannot speak English well either. I want to speak either Japanese or English perfect. Haha

 So,,,I only have 4 or 5 months to stay here, I have to try as much as my friends don’t  say to me “Have you been staying in America for 10 months? Really?”
