アメリカのカリフォルニア州、セレス高校に留学中の佐々木萌里さんから第1回目の留学報告が届きました。

 

こんにちは！これが私の第1回目の留学報告です。もうすでに10月だなんて信じられません。アメリカに来て2ヵ月と半月が経ちます。7月中は素晴らしい友人たちと日常英会話やアメリカの歴史を学びました。そのあと、1年間滞在することになるモデストに移動して学業をスタートさせました。この貴重な経験を楽しんでいます。

 

友人たちとの最初の1ヵ月はとても楽しかったです。日本を出発したばかりの頃は友達ではありませんでしたが、一緒に学ぶにつれて絆が深まりました。今は彼女たちのことが大好きです。日本に戻ったら必ず会おうと約束しました。彼女たちのことを考えると私のモチベーションも上がります。もちろん、友達ばかりでなくホストファミリーもそうです。皆と本当に素晴らしい時間を過ごしました。

 

ここ数か月、たくさんのことを経験しました。最初の数週間は日本から留学生が来ていました。夏休みを利用してアメリカの文化を学びに来た生徒たちです。とてもいい子たちだったので、彼女たちが帰ってしまって寂しいです。

 

私のホストファミリーはメキシコ系アメリカ人です。ですから私はスペイン語も学んでいるんですよ。ホーラー！（笑）タコスが私のお気に入りの料理です。それから私にはルームメイトがいて、ドイツからの留学生です。私たちは全く違う文化と性格を持っていますが、とても仲良しです。ホストファミリーは私たちをたくさんのところに連れて行ってくれました。キャンプやユニバーサルスタジオ・ハリウッド、ヨセミテ国立公園などです。ここで初めての経験をたくさんしました。

 

私の学校はとても大きく、約2千人の学生がいます。けれども、私たち以外に留学生はいません。本当はダンスチームに入りたかったのですが、トライアウトが5月にすでに終わってしまっていたのでとても悲しいです。ダンスのクラスは取っていますけどね。12月にショーケースがあるのでとてもワクワクしています。田邊先生はきっと学業のことを知りたいんですよね。はい、とても大変です。英語は好きですが英語のクラスが一番大変な科目です。でも大変だということは分かっていたし、先生も友達もとても親切なので、たぶん大丈夫だと思います！

 

たくさん書きすぎましたか？もっと書きたいのですが、これから晩御飯を食べにタコ・トラックに行かなければならないので、ここでさよならしますね（笑）。

Hello! This is my first report!! I cannot believe that it is October already.  I have been here for 2 and half months.  During July, I learned daily English and American history with my great friends.　After that, I moved to Modesto where I stay a whole year, and started school.  I enjoy this precious experience.

 

The first month with my friends was so fun.  We were not friends the first day that we left Japan, however as we studied together, we got a close bond.  I love them.  We promised that we will meet after we go back to Japan.  When I imagine about them, my motivation is boosted up.  Not only my friends, but also my two host families, I spent a wonderful time with them.

 

These few months, I experienced a lot of things.  First few weeks here, there were two students from Japan.  They came here to experience American culture during summer vacation.  They were so nice, I miss them.

 

My host family is Mexican Americans.  I learn Spanish too, Hola! Haha.  I like Mexican food so much.  Tacos are my favorite.  I have a roommate.  She is also an exchange student, and she is from Germany.  We have completely different cultures and personality.  However, I get along with her.  My host family took us many places, Camping, Universal Studio Hollywood, Yosemite national park are examples.  There are so many my first experiences here. 

 

My school is so big, there are about 2000 students.  However there are no exchange students besides us.  I really wanted to join a dance team, but the tryout had already done on May.  That was so sad.  Although I have a dance class.  This December, I have a show case!  I am excited.  I am sure that Mr. Tanabe wants to know about academic stuff… Yes, it is hard.  I love English but English class is the hardest subject.  But I knew it is going to be challenging, and teachers and friends are so kind, so I am doing…fine!

 

Did I write too much?  I want to write more though~!  But I need to go to get dinner to TACO TRUCK now, so bye for now! hehe
