アメリカのインディアナ州、ベン・デイビス高校に留学中の山田真祐子さんから第1回目の留学報告が届きました。

 

皆さんこんにちは！お元気ですか。山田真祐子です。私はインディアナ州に滞在しています。ここに来てから2ヵ月余りが過ぎました。いつも忙しくててんてこ舞いですが、素晴らしい日々を過ごしています。時間が経つのが本当に速いです！！！！インディアナは私にピッタリの場所です。一番の良いところは、毎日たくさんの飛行機が空に飛び立つのを見られることです。私は飛行機が大好きなので。もちろん、ここに住んでいる人や場所、景色なども本当に大好きです。

 

私のホストファミリーは色々なところに私を連れて行ってくれます。特に、私たちはよく博物館に行きます。数日前、私はインディアナ州立博物館に行ったのですが、そこでインディアナ州の歴史や地球の誕生などについて学びました。もし皆さんの中でこれらのことに興味がある人がいらしたら、日本に戻ったあと私に聞いて下さいね。それから先日、野球博物館を見学にケンタッキー州にも行きました。ケンタッキー州はとても素敵なところでした。私たちはよくアジア料理を食べます。数日前は日本料理店に行ったんですよ！悪くはなかったのですが、正直言って、何かが足りない気がしました。私のホストシスターは日本が大好きなので、よく彼女に日本食を作ってあげます。先日カレーライスを作ったのですが、失敗してしまったので、次回は上手に作ることを約束しました。家には2匹の猫がいます。ペットがいるのは初めての経験なのですが、とっても可愛いです。特にそのうちの1匹が私のことが大好きなんです！嘘じゃないんですよ！その猫はいつも私の側にいて、よく私の後ろをついて来るんです。家に持って帰りたいくらいです(笑)。

 

学校生活についてお話しします。一言でいうと、私の学校は超最高です！毎日とても楽しく過ごしています。この学校は7月30日に新学期が始まったんですよ！ですからもう2ヵ月余りここで勉強していることになります。というわけで、今年は夏休みがありませんでした。私の学校には約3千人の学生がいて、とても大きな学校です。まるで大学のようです。それにスクールバスが50台もあります。学校が始まってすぐの頃は、よく敷地内で迷ってパニックになりました(笑)。こんな学校にいるなんて、私自身今でも信じられません。でもこの1年は私にとって素晴らしい１年になりそうです。私はフランス語、アメリカ史、ENL、算術、英語を履修しています。全ての授業がとても楽しいですが、特にフランス語がお気に入りです。授業でよくフランス語の映画を見ます。もちろん何を言っているのかはよく分からないのですが、私にとって貴重な時間です。数日前、映画を見ながらクラスメートと一緒にフランスの朝食を楽しみました。私の第3言語はフランス語になるでしょう。発音がとても難しいのですが、先生や多くのクラスメートが私を助けてくれるので、とても楽しく授業を受けられています。私にはメキシコ人の友達がたくさんいて、みんなスペイン語を話します。ですから毎日英語とフランス語に囲まれて生活しています。ENLでは私の他は皆メキシコ人なので、皆私にスペイン語を教えてくれます。私はこのクラスが大好きで、英語やフランス語よりもスペイン語が好きになりました。このクラスが始まる前はいつも皆でハイファイブをします。それが私たちのあいさつなんです！皆本当に愉快な仲間たちで、心の底から彼らのことが大好きです。私の誕生日には、私をハグしてくれて、私のためにバースデーソングを歌ってくれました。私の一生の思い出です。

 

これまでたくさんの思い出が出来ました。それにほぼ毎日、必死に英語を勉強しています。ともかく最善を尽くします！！！！

Hello everyone! How are you doing? I’m Mayuko:) This is my first report!! I’m staying in Indiana. About 2 months and a little have passed since I came here. I always have my hands full but I’m spending great days. Everyday I’m felling time goes by too fast!!!! Indiana is pretty good place to me. The best thing is every day I can see a lot of airplanes into the sky!!lol I love airplane so much. That’s why this is good place to me!!!lol Actually I truly love this place include people, place, view and so on.

My host family often take me a lot of places. Especially we often go to the museum. Few days ago, I  went to the Indiana state museum and I learned about Indiana state history and birth of earth etc… If you want to know about those things, anytime ask me after I go back to Japan:) Also the other day I went to the state of Kentucky to go to the baseball museum. Kentucky state was pretty nice:) We often eat Asian food. Couple days ago, we went to the Japanese restaurant! It was not bad. To be honest, I was like something is missing…lol My host sister likes Japan and I often cook Japanese food for her. The other day, I cooked Japanese curry and rice. However I screwed up…lol Whenever I go, I’m not good at cooking…lol we promised that next time I will do well!!!lol I have 2 cats in my house now. They are my first pets and they are sooooo cute:) One cat loves me!! This is not joking!!lol It is because she is always by my side and often following my way! I want to take her to my house!!!lol

I’m going to talk about my school life. In a word, my school life is SUPER awesome!!!! I’m everyday having a blast. My school started on 7/30!!!!! So, about 2 months and a little I’m studying there. which means that I didn’t have summer vacation in this year.lol There are about 3000 students in my high school and it is SO big. It is like college!lol Also there are 50 school buses we have. Many time I lost my way and I was in panic the first days of school. Can you imagine that I’m in this school now? Even I still can’t believe that!lol I’m sure this year will be an amazing for me. I’m taking French, UShitory, ENL, Algebra, cooking, English and study hall. I love all of my classes so much. Especially French class is interesting to me. We often watch the French movie. Of course I can’t understand what they said, but it is so good time to me. Few days ago, I had a French breakfast with my class mates while watching movie!! That was awesome time. My third language will be French! However, pronounce is super difficult!!lol However teacher and many class mates always help me. So thanks to them, I’m enjoying the class:) I have a lot of Mexican friends. It is because there are soooooooooo many Mexican students in my school. Which means that they speak Spanish! I everyday hear English and Spanish. ENL that it is like English class is all of students except me are Mexican and they teach me Spanish!! So, I can speak Spanish a little bit!lol I like Spanish better than English and French…lol This class is my favorite. We always give each other high five before the class. That’s our greeting!! We are very boon companion. I love them with all of my heart. When my birthday, they gave me big hugs and sang a birthday song for me. That is my life memory!

I made a lot of memories so far.  Also I almost everyday study English so hard!! Anyway absolutely I do my best!!!!!!!!!!!
