アイルランドに留学している髙橋笑花さんから第１回目の留学報告が届きました。

こんにちは。アイルランドに留学中の髙橋笑花です。到着してからまだ数週間ですが、アイルランドは１日に１回は雨が降るなど天気が変わりやすく、気温も比較的低いのでこの気候に慣れていない私は早速風邪を引いてしまいました。なので今私はホストマザーに頂いたパラセタモールを飲みながら風邪と戦っています。 

さて、ここからは私が留学生活を送っている町や学校、ホストファミリーについて紹介したいと思います。私が滞在している場所はNavan(ナバン)という町で、アイルランドの首都である、ダブリンから約５０㎞離れたところにあります。自然が豊かで落ち着いた雰囲気があるのと同時に町にはシッピングセンターやカフェが並んでいるので充実した放課後を過ごすことが出来ます。登下校時は、街中を通るのですが、とてもヨーロッパを感じる歴史的な街並みでとても新鮮なのでいつもわくわくしながら歩いています。私は日本と変わらず、こっちの学校でも女子校に通っています。アイルランドでは男女別学が主流なのだそうです。私の通っている学校には私の他にも交換留学生がいるのですが、ほとんどがヨーロッパの国からです。特にイタリア人が多く、気づけば彼女らは常にイタリア語を話しているのでなかなか話についていけません（笑）そんな感じですが、ランチの時間は学校の庭にあるベンチで留学生の友達と現地の子達と食べています。太陽が当たって空気が新鮮で気持ちがいいので、日本でも外でランチをしたいなと思うくらい、この時間がお気に入りです。 

このような感じで学校では過ごしていますが、家ではホストマザーがおいしい温かいご飯を作ってくれたり（私のためにジャスミンライスですがお米を炊いてくれたりなど）、ホストシスターやブラザーのハーリングやラグビーの試合を観に行ったり、一緒に映画を観たりしています。これからもっともっとホストファミリーとの仲を深めていきたいです。 

このような感じで留学生活はまだ始まったばかりですが、最後は私の留学中の目標についてお話しして終わりたいと思います。もちろん英語の勉強にも取り組みますが、英語を「勉強するもの」ではなく、「実際に使うもの」として身につけていきたいです。現地の話すスピードや訛りにも慣れ、英語でも自分の考えを自信を持って伝えられるようになりたいです。また、アイルランドで過ごす中で、たくさんの写真を撮り、その土地の雰囲気や日々の暮らしを自分なりの形で残していきたいです。アイルランドで実際に暮らしてみて感じる日本との違いにも目を向け、特にこれまで暮らしてきた同じ北国の北海道との違いを比べながら、そこでしか得られない発見や気づきを記録していきたいです。とにかく何事にも興味を持って積極的に行動していこうと思います。 

Dia dhaoibh! Hi, I’m Nikona Takahashi. I’m studying abroad in Ireland for about 10 months as an exchange student. Actually, I have a cold now, because it rains a lot in Ireland and feel like it rains at least once a day here. I haven’t really gotten used to this weather yet, but fortunately, I saw a double rainbow after the rain a few days ago, so I feel like I might start to like this weather. ( I’ll post a photo of a double rainbow.) 
To begin with, I’d like to tell you about where I’m staying, my school life and my host family. I’m staying in Navan, Ireland, which is close to Dublin, the capital of Ireland. 

This town has not only beautiful nature but also historic streets and buildings, so I’m always excited to explore it on my way to school. My host school is also an all-girls school and there are some other international students, especially from Europe. 

The students are very nice to me, and they always support me when I have any worries or concerns. I want to get along with many different people, so I have to be more proactive! My host mother is good at cooking, and she cooked rice for me although it’s jasmine rice. I also go to watch my host siblings play hurling and rugby, and we watch movies together. Weekends are family time, so I hope to spend more time with my host family and get to know them even better! 

My studying abroad has only just begun, and I’d like to finish by sharing some of my goals for my time in Ireland. Of course, I will continue studying English, but I also want to learn English not just as something to study, but as something to actually use. I hope that I can get used to the speed and accents of Irish English and become more confident enough to express my thoughts in English. I also want to take lots of picture during this studying abroad in Ireland and capture the atmosphere of daily life here. By doing so, I want to notice the differences between living in Ireland and living in Japan, especially Hokkaido. I want to compare the two and record the things I discover and learn from my life in Ireland. Most of all, I want to be interested in everything around me and be proactive in trying new things. Slán go fóill!
