アメリカノースダコタ州のセンチュリー高校に留学中の齋藤苑華さんから第２回目の留学報告が届きました。

 

こんにちは。皆さんお元気ですか。苑華です。これが私の2回目の留学報告になります。私がビスマークに来てから2ヵ月が経ちました。アメリカでの生活には慣れましたが、ノースダコタはとても寒いです。もうすでに雪が降って、風邪をひいてしまいました。

 

それからホストファミリーが変わりました。今はホストマザーと二人で生活しています。名前はマリリンといって、とても素敵で聡明な女性です。彼女はエンジニアで、80歳です。彼女からアメリカの歴史を学びました。それから彼女と一緒にラッシュモア山を見にサウスダコタにも行きました。とても壮大な山でした。

 

授業を理解するのは難しいですが、友達も先生方も毎時間助けてくれるので、何とか理解できています。私はスペイン語の授業は取っていないのですが、メキシコ出身の友達が私にスペイン語を教えてくれます。時々、彼女の家に泊まりに行ったりもします。放課後はいつも二人一緒です。私たちのお気に入りの場所は中華料理店で、そこで中華料理を食べるのが二人とも大好きです。

 

ここに来てから考え方が変わって、それに伴って私の将来の夢も変わりました。私はオーストラリアでバリスタになりたかったのですが、今はアメリカで日本語の先生になりたいと思っています。理由はいろいろあるのですが、それはまた別の時に話しますね。

 

もしアメリカに来る機会があったら、是非私たちのお気に入りの中華料理店に行ってほしいです。

Hi, how are you guys? I’m Sonoka. This is my second report! 2 months have passed since I came to Bismarck. I have gotten used to life in the US. However, it is very cold in North Dakota! It already snowed here. I caught a cold:(

 

I changed my host family. I live with my host mother now. Her name is Marilyn. She is nice lady and very smart! She is an engineer, and 80 years old. She worked in Japan about 20 years ago, so she can speak little Japanese! I learned about US history from her. I went to South Dakota to see Mt. Rushmore with her! It was powerful. 

 

It is hard to understand the class, but my friends and teachers help me every class, so I can understand the class somehow. My friend who is from Mexico teach me Spanish. I don’t take Spanish class though. Sometimes I stayed over in my friend’s house. We hang out after school every day. Our favorite place is Chinese restaurant. We like to eat Chinese food! 

 

I changed my way of thinking after I came to here, and my dream also changed. I wanted to be a barista in Australia, but I want to be a Japanese teacher in the US. I have many reasons, but I’ll take about it at another time!

 

If you come to the US, you should go to Chinese restaurant haha.
