アメリカコロラド州のバーサッド高校に留学中の早弓結菜さんから第３回目の留学報告が届きました。

 

こんにちは。お元気ですか。私は元気です。この2カ月間はとても楽しく過ごしました。

 

まず、2回目のジャズバンドコンサートとクワイアコンサートがありました。この２つは私の好きな科目で、私はピアノが弾けるので、時々クワイアで友達が音を取るのを手伝ってあげています。コンサートはとても楽しかったのですが、シニアは勉強に集中しなければいけないのでシニアにとっては最後のコンサートでした。また一緒にシニアの人たちと歌いたいです。それから、期末テストがありました。とても楽しかったです！というのは冗談です。楽しくなかったです。でも成績は全部AかBだったので、悪くなかったと思います。

 

クリスマスパーティーではたくさんのプレゼントをもらいました。私はホストファミリーと一緒にハムやマッシュポテト、アスパラ、ベーコンを使った料理を作りました。私は折り紙でクリスマスツリーとプレゼントを作ったのですが、気に入ってもらえてよかったです。フランスからの留学生が私に「日本ではクリスマスに何を食べるの」と聞いてきたので、私が「ケンタッキーフライドチキンよ」と答えると、「本当に？」とびっくりしていたのが面白かったです。

 

それから、新年はピザを食べて、ホストシスターと一緒にホラー映画を見ました。怖くて一晩中眠れなかったです(笑)。アメリカでは新年よりもクリスマスの方が重要なので、新年は特別なことはあまりしませんでした。それで日本のお正月が恋しくなりました。

 

クリスマス休みの一番大きな行事は私の誕生日でした！！17歳になりました。私が17歳になったと言うと、大抵の人は驚きます。背が小さいので実年齢よりも若く見えるのは仕方ありませんが。ボーリングに行ったときに生まれて初めてストライクを取ったのですが、それでホストファミリーと友達が、メッセージ付きのボーリングのピンをプレゼントしてくれました。素敵なプレゼントでした。他にもたくさんプレゼントをもらいました。マグカップやティーセット、コーヒーメーカーなどなど。みんなのことが大好きです。ところで誕生日にアイリッシュダンスのコンサートがあって出演したので、忙しかったですが楽しかったです。

 

私の学校は2学期制で、クリスマス休みのあとすぐに後期が始まり、時間割が変わりました。今履修しているのは、絵画、ジャズバンド、創造的作文、人間解剖学、算術、近代アメリカ、クワイア、英語です。私は創造的作文のクラスが大好きです。授業で創造力を使ってたくさんの物語を書くんです。日本でもこの授業があるといいと思います。ところで学校初日は、新しい授業を一緒に履修している生徒をほとんど知らなかったので、少し緊張しました。前期の初日を思い出しました。違うのは、私はもうシャイではないということです。ですから新しい友達も出来て、たくさんお話もしました！それでもっと自信が付きました。それからミュージカルのオーディションにもチャレンジして、見事合格しました！ミュージカルに出られるんですよ！

 

 私の英語力がどれだけ上がっているかは分かりませんが、積極的になったとは思うので、嬉しいです。アメリカでの生活はあと4ヵ月くらいしかありません。これから大好きなホストファミリーと素晴らしい友達と一緒に、もっと、もっと、もーっとたくさんの思い出を作りたいです。それでは、さようなら。

Hello! How are you? I’m pretty good. I had so much fun for this 2 months.

 

First of all, I had 2nd Jazz band concert and Choir concert. They are my favorite classes and I can play the piano so I sometimes help friends to get notes in Choir. We had a really good time for the concert but that was last concert with Senior because they have to focus on study. I want to sing with them again. Also I had final tests. Haha. It was so much fun. No just kidding. It was not fun. Haha. But actually I got only A and B so I think it was not bad.

 

We had Christmas party and I got many presents! I made some foods like ham, mushed potato, asparagus and bacon and so on with host family. I made Christmas tree and presents with origami for them and they liked it! So one of my friends who is exchange student from France asked me “What do you guys eat for Christmas in Japan?” You know what I said?:) I said “KFC.” She was like “ Seriously!?:) That’s funny.”

 

And also We had New Year! I had pizza and watched horror movies with host sister:) I couldn’t sleep all night:) We didn’t do not so much stuff because you know Christmas is bigger event than New Year in America so it made me miss Japanese New Year pretty much.

 

The most biggest event for Christmas break was my BIRTHDAY!! I became 17! Most people here are surprised when I tell them I’m 17. I know I look younger than my actually age because I’m short:) Anyways, I went bowling and I got a strike for the first time in my life! And guess what I got a pin of bowling with message from my wonderful host family and friends. That was the coolest present. I also got many presents like a mug, tea set, coffee maker and so on. They are so sweet. By the way, I had Irish dance concerts on my birthday:) I was busy but it was so fun.

 

My school has 2 semesters and 2nd semester has started after Christmas break and my schedule has changed. I have Painting, Jazz band, Creative Writing, Human Anatomy, Algebra, Modern America, Choir and English. I really like Creative writing. We write many stories in that class using our creativity. I think we should have Creative Writing in Japan. By the way, first day of school, I was little nervous because I didn’t know most people in new class and that reminded me the very first day of school. But only different thing is I’m not shy anymore. I made new friends and I talked to them a lot. That gave me more confidence. Also I tried audition for the musical and I made it! I’m in the musical!

 

I don’t know how my English is improving but I can tell I became outgoing! I’m so happy. I have only about 4 months left in America. I will make more more moooore memories with lovely host family and wonderful friends! Bye!
