This summer I went to Adelaide and I could experience a lot of things that I hadn’t before.

I will tell you a few things that I experienced in Adelaide.

I went to Golden Grove High School during my study in Adelaide. On my first day of school, I went to school with my host mother and I met two Japanese students who were also starting school that day. We met the teacher first, and then got are time schedules and looked around the school to know where the classrooms are. After that, we got are school uniform and once I wore it, it felt very cold for me. And we got are locker keys and went to the lockers to put my bags in. The lockers were a bit difficult to use for the first week because I do not use it in Japan. And I went for two classes which were left for the day.

The subject that I liked the most was drama. The drama teacher was very kind and always asked me if I understand the information. In the beginning and in the end of the class, we played some easy games so I could communicate with a lot of students at that time so it was very fun. In drama class, I was learning “the theater of absurd” which was very difficult. Since the class was too difficult, so I did something different things such as acting out Japanese anime or movies in English. It was a bit difficult in the beginning but in the end, I could act it out in front of the teacher and my classmates. The students who were in the same classes in Japanese and science class would often wave to me and I also ate lunch with them. Sometimes, we went to the small shopping mall in front of the school after we finished school.

I will tell you a little about my host family. My host family was only a host mother and a dog so I felt a little lonely in the beginning but since my host mother was a very cheerful and a funny woman, she always made me laugh so I had a great time there. In the weekends, I went to the city and went shopping or to the zoos or spend some time with my host mother’s family and made some Australian snacks with her. Every weekend was so exciting and I enjoyed completely everything. Sometimes I went to the shopping mall which was about 30 minutes by bus from my school and did some shopping there. Since the shopping mall is near my host mother’s work, we usually met after a couple of hours and ate dinner. I ate foods from different country and it was most that I had not eaten before.

Even though it was a short time in Adelaide, I came up to some difficulties, and I could feel thankful for a lot of things in my life and Japan so I think I experienced things that I had not before. In a month in Adelaide, I learned that the most important thing is to have your own opinion or ideas constantly and not only think about it, but to share your ideas or what you think.
