７月２２日、私たちはオーストラリアのアデレードに向けて日本を出発しました。　私は初めての海外ということもあり、不安もありましたがオーストラリアに行くことがとても楽しみでした。

私のホストファミリーは医者のファザーと小学校の先生のマザー、そしてペットのねこ（Sparky）でした。　二人ともとても優しくて、私がアデレード空港に着いたときはハグで迎えてくれました。　週末は必ずどこかへ連れてってくれたり、ごはんも毎回私の好きなものを聞いてくれたり、夜には一緒にボードゲームをしました。　また、私にマザーの家族や友達に紹介してくれたり、クラスの子のファミリーとお出かけに連れてってくれたりと、たくさんの人と関わる機会を与えてくれました。　そのおかげで英語に触れる機会が増えたし、毎日楽しい時間を過ごすことができました！！

私はGolden Grove High Schoolという学校に通いました。　登下校は同じ学校に通うクラスメイトのホストシスターと一緒に行きました。　最初は緊張して何を話せばいいのかわからずうまく会話ができなかったけど、同じ共通点を見つけてからは仲良くなることができました！！　学校はとても広くて、高校だけでなく中学もありました。　私は人見知りで、自分の英語にも自信がなかったので友達を作ることができるか、みんなと仲良くできるか、授業についていけるかなどと、とても不安でした。　しかし、この学校の生徒は優しくて、私が教室の場所がわからなくて困っていると「何か困ってるの？手伝おうか？」と助けてくれたり、どこに座ろうか悩んでいると「ここにおいで！！」と声をかけてくれました。　先生方も「何をやるかわかった？」と聞いてくれていつも私を気にかけてくれました。　授業は難しいものもあったけど、わからないことは先生や生徒のみんなが教えてくれたし、遠足で小学校やアデレードシティーにも行きました。　お昼は同じく日本人留学生の子と一緒に食べたり、たまに現地の子とも食べました。　もっと現地の子と一緒に食べればよかったかなとも思ったけど、日本人留学生の子とはとても仲良くなることができ、大事な友達になれたのでよかったです！！　もちろん、現地の子とも友達になれ、たくさんの人と関わることができたので、楽しい学校生活を過ごせました！！

日本とオーストラリアでは文化の違いがたくさんありました。　学校では、２０分間のRecessとお昼休みがあり、その時間は必ず外に出なければいけませんでした。　他にも、私が気に入ったのは購買です。　ケーキやドーナツなどのスイーツのほか、ハンバーガーやサンドイッチ、フルーツ、ナチョス、アイス、お菓子、ジュースなどたくさんの種類の食べ物が売っていました。　日本の高校もこんな購買だったらいいなと思いました。　でも、お店がだいたい５時に閉まってしまうことや、コンビニがないのは不便だなと思いました。　このような異文化に触れるのはとても興味深く、楽しかったです。　

この一か月間の留学で私はたくさんのことを経験し、学んできました。　とくに、自分の英語に自信がなくてもとにかく話しかけることが大事なんだと感じました。　最初は勇気がなくて話しかけられなかったけど、話しかけたらみんなちゃんと聞いて、話してくれたので友達を作ることができたし、自分の英語力の向上にもつなげることができました。　また、文化の違いに触れることで自分の価値観や考え方も変わりました。　そして、なにより帰りたくないと思うくらい楽しい時間を過ごせたことが本当によかったと思います。 一か月という時間はとても短かったけど、楽しい思い出がたくさんできたし、自分を変えることもできました。　私にとって貴重で忘れられない留学になりました。　今後はこの留学で得た経験と知識を生かしてさらに成長していけるよう頑張ろうと思います。　そして、今度は自分でお金を貯めていろんな国に行きたいと思います！！

最後に、留学という貴重な経験をさせてくれた家族と良い留学になるよう準備を手伝ってくれた先生とISAの方々、そしてオーストラリアで出会った人たち、みんなに感謝します。　本当にありがとうございました！！！

5F 19 Nana Ogasawara

On July 22, we left Japan to Adelaide in Australia.  This is my first time to go abroad, so I was nervous, but I was also looking forward to go to Australia.

My host families are a father who is doctor, a mother who is teacher at elementary school, and a cat which is their pet（sparky）.  They are very kind, so they welcomed me with hag when I arrived in the Adelaide Airport.  Moreover, they took me many places every weekends, ask to me the food what I like every time, and also we played board game at night.  Beside this, my host mother introduced her family and friends to me, and they took me hanging out with my friend and her family, so I could get many chances to have relationships with many people.  Thanks to them, I could have the chance to speak English, and spend enjoyable time every　day.

I went to Golden Grove High School.  When I go to school and go home, I was with my classmate’s host sister.  At first, I was nervous, and I didn’t know what to talk about, so I couldn’t talk with her.  However, I could get along with her since I found the common interest!!  The school is very large, and there are not only senior school but also middle school.  I was very worried about whether I can get along with the students because I was bashful, and also I can keep up with the class too.  However, they are very kind, so when I couldn’t find the class room where I should go, they spoke to me “Is everything alright? Can I help you?”, and they helped me.  Beside this, when I wavered where I sit, they said to me “Come here!! You can sit here!!” and invited me.  Also, the teachers asked me “Did you understand?  If you couldn’t know what you should do, please ask me.”, and they always care about me.  The class is not easy but also difficult, but the students and teachers taught me what I should do and I could go on excursion to primary school and Adelaide City. In the lunch time, I had the lunch with Japanese exchange students just like us and sometimes students in Australia.  I thought that I should be with the students in Australia, but I am grad because I could get along with the Japanese exchange student, and she became my precious friend for me!!!  Of course, I could make some friends who are from the other country, and also I could have relationship with many people, so I enjoyed the school life!!

There are a lot of differences of culture between Japan and Australia.  For example, the school in Australia has Recess to have break for 20 minutes, and the students have to go outside during Recess and Lunch Time.   Beside this, I like the canteen.  It is like a convenience store, and a lot of kind of foods are not only sweets like a cake and doughnut but also hamburger, sandwiches, fruits, nachos, ice cream, snack, juice are sold there.  I thought it would be nice if the high school in Japan has the canteen.  However, almost store in Australia closed around five, and there are not convenience stores, so that felt inconvenience to me.  It was very exciting and interesting to experience the culture of the other countries.

I learned and experienced many things during this studying abroad for a month.  Especially, I felt that it is impotent to speak to a person if I don’t have confidence in my English.  At first, I couldn’t speak to them because I don’t have a courage, but  when I tried to speak to them, they listened to me and talked with me, and I could make some friends.  Moreover, it leaded to improve my English.  Also, my sense of value and the way of thinking has changed through experiencing the culture of the other countries.  And, above all, I am grad I could spend the good time so as to want to stay in Australia.  The time for a month is very short, but I could make wonderful memories and change myself.  This studying abroad is a valuable and unforgettable experience for me.  I want to use this experience and knowledge which I got during this time, and I do my best to grow.  In the future, I save the money, and I want to go to many other countries!!!

Last, I appreciate my family who let me go studying abroad, the teachers and staffs of ISA who supported us, and people in Australia who I met.  Thank you so much!!!
