アメリカに留学中の櫻田晴乃さんから、三回目の留学報告が届きました
あけましておめでとうございます。もう2015年ですね。今年はもう帰国する年ですし、進路について決めなきゃいけなかったりと大変な年になりそう です。1日は凄くゆっくり感じても1か月って意外とあっという間で気づいたら帰国になっちゃいそうで、本当に月日は早いです。日々楽しみ、集中しながら自 分自身を成長していけたらいいと思っています。
では、さっそく学校であったクリスマス行事について話しますね。毎年この時期にはクリスマスダンスパーティーがあります。でもその日と同じ日に初めてのチ アの大会もありました。チアの大会ではたくさん人が来ていてすごく緊張しました。私は3つのラウンドにすべて出ましたが、本当にすごい活気と緊張感で失神 するかと思いました（笑）ですが、失敗することもなく、最終的に2位に入ったんですね！もう飛ぶようにうれしかったです。すごいいい出だしで、チアをもっ と頑張っていこうという気持ちになりました。話を戻って、そのチアの大会が6時に終わった後、1時間かけて家に戻りすでに7時。シャワーに入って髪をセッ トしてメイクアップをして、終わったころにちょうどデートの相手だった人が来たんですね。私はたまたま仲の良かったブラジルからの留学生と行く約束をして いました。彼は、彼のホストマザーと一緒に作った腕につけるコサージュを作ってプレゼントしてくれたんですね。これは彼がつける胸元のコサージュと同じデ ザインですごく素敵でした。日本に持ち帰ってもずっと大事にしようと思いました。写真を撮ったりして、ダンスパーティーに行きました。最初はハイヒールを 履きながら踊ってたんですがいつしか脱ぎ捨てて踊っていました。本当に楽しい夜でした。
アメリカの本場のクリスマスはすごく盛大でした。アメリカではテンクスギビングの後から一気にクリスマスモードになり飾りつけなどを始めるんですね。たく さんの家が外壁にクリスマスライトをつけるのですごくきれいでどれが一番か比べたりしたのは楽しかったです。私の家では外壁以外にも暖炉の周りや壁を装飾 しました。ちょうど陶器を作るクラスでクリスマスのオーナメントを作成していたので、大きなツリーに飾りました。そして12月25日、朝起きたらたくさん のクリスマスプレゼントがありました。いくつになってもわくわくするものですね。私の好きなホリスターの服やカードなどをもらいました。そして私は、ホス トペアレンツに大きなキャンドルとマグカップをプレゼントしました。ディナーも豪華ですごくおいしかったです。驚いたことに、アメリカではツリーを大みそ かまで家庭によっては年明けまで飾っとくんですね。日本ではすぐ片づけて大晦日、お正月に向けて準備するのでびっくりです。文化の違いですね。ですが、こ んな大きなクリスマスは初めてだったし、本物に触れられたことにすごくうれしかったです。
大みそかはちょうど、朝の10時に日本が新年を迎えました。ですが、こっちでは日本ほどスペシャルでもなく、普通に過ごしたので、そこはお餅を食べたり年 越しそばを食べたりする日本との文化がとても恋しくなりました。特にディナーにピザを食べたときは、アメリカを確信しました（笑）とはいっても、年越しの カウントダウンはホームパーティーをしていてみんなで新年を迎えたのでいい2015年、最初の思い出となりました。
冬休みも終わり、ようやくスキークラブが始まりました。2回も行けて楽しかったですがミシガン州は山が全然ないので、札幌に比べたらほとんど丘です。札幌 みたいな都市もあって山もあるなんて贅沢なところだと思いました。あと4回ありますし、新しい友達もできてすごく楽しみです！
2学期が明日から始まります。新しくクワイヤー（日本でいう音楽）に挑戦しようと思ってて、それは前の学期で取れなかったからです。春にあるミュージカルにも挑戦できるかもしれません。すごく今から楽しみです！気持ちを切り替えて、心機一転、折り返し地点頑張ります。
Happy New Year! It’s already 2015. This year is supported to go back to Japan and should be so hard to decide the way for the future. I thought that one day is really slowly but one month is really fast for me. It’s kind of weird but I’m going to stay here just for 6 months left. Of course I’ll enjoy each things and concentrate to improve myself.
Anyway I’m talking about Christmas event in school. I had Christmas dance party in my school but also my first cheer competition too. I was so nervous at competition and participated all 3 round. There were many audiences. I was feeling kind of faint at the time. But I didn’t fail anything and we finally got 2nd place! I was so surprised and glad. It’s a good beginning and makes me keeping cheer. Competition was over at 6;00. I left there and at home at 7:00, but Christmas dance starts at 8:00 so I had time to prepare just for 1 hour. I took a shower and wore dress and made up. My date was coming after I’ve just finished them. My date is one of exchange student from Brazil. He is so nice guy and one of my best frinds. He and his mother made flower bracelet. This corsage and boutonniere are same design and really beautiful. I was so appreciate for them to make it for me. I still save them and wanna bring it to Japan. We took picture together and went to party. I danced with high heels at first but I took of them during dance because it easy to dance for me. It was such a great night for us. I won’t forget forever.
I’ll talking about American Christmas next. I experienced real Christmas in America. In America, they already start to prepare for Christmas after thanksgiving. They decorate their each houses’ outside so night is really shinning and beautiful. I liked to compare houses and found what house is the best. In my house, we decorated around fire place and wall. Of course we put big Christmas tree. I take ceramics class and made my own Christmas ornaments, so I put them on tree. On December 25th, I wake up and found many presents around tree. I’ve never seen such a lot of presents. I freaked out and opened presents. I got clothes of horister which is one of bland that I like the best in America and cards and so on. Anyway many staffs! I presented big candle and coffee cup to my host parents. We ate big Christmas dinner too. I came to know that many Americans keep putting tree until new year eve, so I was surprised because Japanese clean up tree and wait for omisoka and newyear. Anyway I can’t experience such a great Christmas in japan so I touched real wonderful Christmas in America.
On New year eve, I saw new year (Japanese time) at 10 o’clock here. I missed at the time because Christmas is more important than new year in America so we don’t do special. I just ate pizza for dinner on Christmas eve so I totally felt AMERICA. I wanted buckwheat flower noodle or rice cakes and to visit shrine. Actually I enjoyed new year party here so this became my first memory in 2015.
After Christmas break, ski club have stared and I’ve been there for 2 times. Skiing is really fan but Michigan state doesn’t have big mountain like Sapporo so it’s like hill. I have more 4 times so I definitely enjoy skiing with new friends!
New semester is starting from tomorrow and I try to take choir as I should be able to participate musical in spring. I was interested in this class but I couldn’t take it last semester, so I’m excited! It’s time to turn over a new leaf! I’ll have fan to stay for half year in America!
