アメリカに留学中の上田涼さんから、三回目の留学報告が届きました。

みなさん、こんにちは！涼です。お元気でしたか？私は元気です。いくつかの出来事についてお話しますね。まずは、皆さんは覚えているでしょうか、私 が前回のレポートで次のように書いていたことを。「次のレポートではダンスドリルチームのトライアウトについてお話しますね。」と。でも実は報告できない のです。というのも私はトライアウトには参加できなかったんです。ダンスチームは来年のためのものだと気付いたのです。つまり私がテキサスからいなくなっ てからのことを意味します。ですから、私はどの活動にも参加することができないのです。がっかりしました。今は新しい友達を作る別の方法を考えているとこ ろです。

次に、ついに友達と一緒に初めて大きなショッピングモールに行くことができました！とても楽しかったです！！アメリカの服・靴・そしてお化粧品は日本よりも格段に安いので、たくさん買ってしまいました。

みなさんは“ヤングアメリカン”を知っていますか？ヤングアメリカンとはボランティアパフォーマンスグループです。彼らは３日間私の学校に来てダンス・演 技・歌の指導してくれました。テキサスでは私の学校だけに来てくれたんですよ。ラッキーですよね！ヤングアメリカンのメンバーの中に一人日本人の女性がい たんです。実はテキサスでこれまで日本人に会ったことがなく、日本語も話していなかったのでとっても嬉しかったです。彼女はとっても素敵な人で、私たちは たくさんのことを話しました。ヤングアメリカンの最終日には、ワークショップに参加していた私の学校の生徒の何名かがダンス、歌とパフォーマンスを披露し ました。ライオンキングのショーをやったんです。そのショーはメインイベントのようでした。そのショーの中で、特別な役割がありました。ヤングアメリカン のメンバーに選ばれたわずか６名の生徒だけができるものでした。私は先ほどお話しした日本人のメンバーに選ばれたんです。それに、私はオープニングダンス でソロダンスも踊りました！信じられないくらいのことでしたが、頑張りました。ステージではアイドルのように笑顔でいることを心がけていました（笑）。 ショーは成功でした。素晴らしいものになりました。すべてをやりきった後、涙が止まりませんでした。とても素晴らしくて、言葉で皆さんにうまく伝えること ができないほどです。間違いなく、私のこれまでの人生の中で最高の経験でした！！！

最近、具合が悪くなることが何度かありました。今月はもう２回も体調を崩してしまいましたし、テキサスに来てから５回体調を崩しました。日本では体調を崩 すことはほとんどなかったんですけどね。体調を崩したくないんです。自分の体調の悪さを英語でうまく伝えることもできませんし。ですから、具合が悪くなる と日本が恋しくなります。体調が悪くなる原因はテキサスのおかしな天候のせいなんです。この異常な天気にびっくりしています。例えば、テキサスは冬でも ２８度で、まるで北海道の夏のようです。その一週間後にはテキサスの気温は１度で、まるで北海道の冬です。実は今日と明日は休校です。突然の気温の低下に よるものです。なかなか体がついていきません。こんな異常気象を経験するのは初めてですから。

話は変わりますが、私のホストファミリーが３月にもう一人留学生を受け入れることになりました。彼女は１７歳の日本人で、１２日間私たちのところにステイします！彼女に会うのが楽しみです！

留学生活が残すところ３か月となりました。自分で考えていたよりもずっと早く時間が過ぎて行っています。これから英語力がもっと向上してほしいと期待しています。レポートを読んでくださりありがとうございました。それでは次回のレポートでまたお会いしましょう。

Hello, everybody! this is Ryo! How are you been?? i’m good! i’m gonna talk about some my events. First, do you remember i said ” i’m gonna talk about dance drill team’s try out on next report” ?? but i can’t, because i couldn’t try out. i noticed the dance team is for next year. it means after i left Texas. so i can’t in any club activity. i was disappointed. i’m thinking other way of get more new friends right now.

next thing, finally i could go shopping with friend in huge mall for the first time! that was so exciting!! American clothes, shoes and cosmetics are so cheaper than Japanese. so i got so many stuff! i had really great time!

the next thing, do you know “Young Americans” ?? Young American is volunteer performance group. they came my school and they taught us dance and acting and singing for 3 days. it was only my school to come to teach them in Texas. so i was really lucky! and there was Japanese woman as one of the Young American’s member. i was so glad to see her because i had not seen Japanese in Texas and i had not spoken Japanese in Texas. she was super sweet. i and she were talking about many things. the Young American’s last day, my school’s some students who were joining Young American’s work shop had show of dance and singing and acting! then, we had show of “lion king”. it was like main show. in the lion king’s show, there was special work. it can do only 6 people who were chosen by Young American’s member. and i was chosen for the special work by Japanese woman. Also i was chosen solo dance for opening dance! i couldn’t believe them but i did my best and i was keeping to smile on stage like an idol. Lol show could success and show was so amazing that i couldn’t stop crying when show was over. i’m so sorry that was really awesome that i can’t describe very well. anyway that experience was the best in my life!!!

by the way, these days i get sick some times. i have already had sick 2 times in this months, and i have had sick 5 times since i came to Texas, though i was so healthy in Japan. i was little scared to get sick because i can’t explain about my bad feeling in English. so getting sick made me miss Japan. but i know it’s because of Texas crazy weather to get sick many times. i’m surprising this crazy weather. sometimes Texas become about 28℃ like Hokkaido’s summer in winter. but the after one week, Texas get 1℃ like Hokkaido’s winter. so today and tomorrow is no school because of suddenly Texas got too cold weather. i’m little confusing because i had not experienced such a crazy weather.

by the way, my host family will accept another foreign exchange student in Murch. she is also Japanese and 17years old! she’s gonna stay with us for 12 days! i’m so excited!

finally i have only 3months until i leave America. i can’t believe time is going too fast more than i was thinking. so i’m hoping my English will improve more.

アメリカに留学中の兼平光さんから、二回目の留学報告が届きました。

みなさんこんにちは！お元気ですか？レポートの提出が遅れてしまってごめんなさい。私は元気にやっています。学校では前期が終わったところで、レ ポートカードを待っているところです。こちらにきてもう５か月が経つなんて信じられません！でも、いまだに日本食の夢を見ています（笑）。このレポートで は冬休みと学校生活についてお話ししますね。

冬休みは２週間の長さでした。クリスマス前に始まり１月４日で終わりました。私には少し短い休みではありましたが、素敵な時間を過ごすことができました。 私はホストマザーの孫とその友達とスキーに行きました。とても楽しかったのですが、疲れました。スキーに行った翌日は全身が痛くて、身動きできませんでし た。私以外の人はスノーボードをやっていました。彼らはとっても上手なんです！ジャンプをしたり、技を決めたり。私は同じようにはできません。一緒に行っ たメンバーの中では私が一番年上だったのですが、なんだか私が一番年下のような気になっていました。白人のアメリカ人は実年齢より大人びているように感じ ます。山で彼らと楽しい時間を過ごすことができました。この冬は、私の町では暖冬なので、山頂以外は雪がほとんどありません。北海道に住んでいるので雪は 当たり前だったのですが、こちらに来て人生で初めて雪のない冬を経験しています。なんだか新鮮な気持ちですが、少し雪が恋しいです。

クリスマス前には学校で大きなクリスマスアートプロジェクトがありました。そのプロジェクトでは私たちの町のお店の窓にクリスマスの絵を描いていくので す。私は雪だるまの絵とメッセージを描きました。丸一日がかりの作業でしかも外が寒かったので大変でしたが、素敵なプロジェクトでした！楽しい時間を過ご しましたし、奈菜もこのプロジェクトに参加していました。このプロジェクトと通して友達たちとより仲良くなることができました。ホストファミリーに日本の ケーキについて話すと、興味を持ってくれました。クリスマスの日に私はホストペアレンツのために日本のクリスマスケーキを作りました。彼らはとても気に 入ってくれたので、私は嬉しかったです。クリスマスツリーをホストブラザーの家族と一緒に飾りつけしました。私たちはホストマザーの孫娘と一緒にジン ジャーブレッドハウスを作りました。そのジンジャーブレッドハウスはとってもかわいくできました。クリスマスの日に、私は日本から送ってもらったクリスマ スプレゼントをホストペアレンツにあげました。私ももちろんプレゼントをもらいました。とっても嬉しかったです。素敵な時間でした。クリスマスは私のお気 に入りの祝日となりました。

こちらでのお正月は、それほど大きな出来事ではありません。大晦日の日に、私は教会で新年のお祝いパーティーに参加しました。これはポットラックパー ティーでした。ポットラックパーティーでは参加者それぞれが料理を会場に持ってくることになっています。余興もありました。たくさんのゲームを教えてもら いました。教会は私のお気に入りの場所です。クリスチャンではない私にさえもみなさんが親切にしてくれます。私たちは年明けの次の日に食料品店とアジア料 理のビュッフェに行きました。そのレストランはとっても素敵なところでした。“お寿司”、“紅白なます”、それに中華料理、韓国料理を堪能しました。こち らでお寿司を食べられるなんて思ってもみなかったので、実は食べられるということがわかってとてもうれしかったです。こちらではお正月がそれほど大きなイ ベントではなく、またアメリカ人は冬休みのことを“クリスマス休暇”と呼ぶことに少し驚きました。でも、もちろんシアトルのような大都市では盛大な新年の お祝いもありますけどね。いつかそうした大きな新年のお祝いパーティーに行ってみたいですね。

このレポートの最後に、学校のことについて少しお話ししますね。私のお気に入りの授業はいまだに美術です（笑）。私の英語力はだんだんと上達してきたよう に思います。先週、私の生物の先生が私の英語が上達したと言ってくれたんです。飛び上がりたいくらいうれしかったです。アメリカ人のように英語を話すため にはもっと勉強しなければいけないですよね。自分で思ったことを不自由なくしゃべりたいんです。相変わらず、いくつかの授業はとても難しいです。私の成績 は悪いわけではなく、いい成績をキープしています。レポートカードのことでワクワクしています。できる限りいい成績を取れるように頑張ります。これからも ベストを尽くします。

学校では今シーズンはバスケットボールのシーズンです。私の学校のバスケットボールのチームはなかなか強いんです。男女ともに、地区大会に進出して男子 チームは優勝しました！私は学校のバンドメンバーとして地区大会の試合すべてでクラリネットを演奏しましたので、実はすべての試合を観戦していました。決 勝戦は素晴らしいゲームでした。二度の延長戦を戦いました。そこにいた人たちすべてが盛り上がっていました。もちろん私もです！もう泣きそうでした！私た ちの男子バスケットボールチームの選手たちはとっても素敵です！私はチームの大ファンになってしまいました。バンドメンバーの一員として州大会に進出する 私たちのチームを観ることができてうれしいです。州大会が待ち遠しいです！

まあ、これまでのところ素敵な時間を過ごせています。私に残された時間を楽しみます。次のレポートをすぐに送りますね。どうぞお体に気を付けてください。それでは！

Hi guys! How are you doing? I’m sorry for turning in my paper so late. I’m doing well, I just finished 1st semester at the school, and am waiting for my report card. I can not believe I have already spent 5 month here! But I still am having dreams about Japanese foods. haha I’m going to write about winter break and school.

Winter break was 2 weeks long. It started before Christmas and then finished on Jan 4th. It was a little bit short for me but it was a wonderful break!  
I went skiing with my host mother’s grand son and his friend. It was really fun but also very tiring. I could not move the next day because my whole body was hurting. Everyone except me did snowboarding. They were so cool! They did jumping and other tricks. I can not do it like them. It was funny that I was the oldest in the group, but I looked like I’m youngest. I think white American youths look old. I had a great time with them on the mountain. This winter, in my town it is too warm, so we don’t have snow except on top of the mountain. For the first time in my life I have had no snow for winter because I have lived in Hokkaidou. Which is a kind of new experience. I miss snow a little bit.

Before Christmas I had a big christmas art project at school. We paint some Christmas picture on the windows of store in our community. I did a snowman and wrote words. It’s took all day and it was very very cold outside but it was a nice project! I was having so much fun, and Nana had this project too. I got closer with friends doing this project. When I talked about Japanese cake, my host family took an interest in Japanese cake. On Christmas day I made a Japanese Christmas cake for my host parents. They enjoyed it very much. I was so grad. I decorated a Christmas tree with my host brother’s family and, we made a ginger bread house with my host mother’s grand daughter. The ginger bread house was really cute. On Christmas day, I gave my host parents Christmas presents from Japan. I got Christmas presents too! I was very happy. It was a really wonderful time. Christmas is one of my favorite holiday. 

On New Years day here, it was not a big occasion. During New Year’s eve, I had New Years party at the church. It’s was a potluck party. Potluck party is when people bring some foods for party. It’s fun too. I learned a lot of games. I like church because peoples are so kind to me even tho I’m not a christen. We went to the grocery store and Asian buffet restaurant the day after New Years. The Asian buff restaurant was awesome! I was able to eat “Sushi” , “kouhakunamasu”, and some Chinese and Korean foods. I did not think I could eat really good “Sushi” here, so I was very happy to discover I was wrong. I was kind of suprised that NewYear is not a big event in here and American people call winter break “Christmas break”. But of course there were huge NewYears parties at the big cities like Seattle. I want to go to big NewYear party some day.

Finally, I want to write a little about my school. My favorite class is still art, haha. I think my English is getting better. Last weeks my AP Biology’s teacher told me that my English has improved. I was jumping for joy. Also I know I have to study more to speak English better like American people. I want to be able to speak anything that I’m thinking and not struggle. And some class are still very difficult for me. I think my grades are not bad and I’m keeping good grades. I’m excited about my report card. I will work hard to keep the best grades I can. I will always to do my best.  

This season is a basketball season at the school. My school’s basketball teams are very good. Girls and boys, both teams went to district games and boy’s team has won! I have to play my claranet at the all district game as a school band member. So, I watched very games. Last one was so amazing. We had two over times, all the people there to watch the game were very excited. Of course I was too! I almost cried! Our boy basketball players are really cool! I have become one of there big fans! Anyway, I’m glad to be a band member and get to go to see my team go on to State games. I can’t wait for it!  

So anyways, I’m doing great over here. I will enjoy the rest of the time I have left. I going to send a new report soon. Please take care of your selves. Write to you later!

アメリカに留学中の髙田侑美さんから、三回目の留学報告が届きました。

みなさん、こんにちは。お元気ですか？レポートの提出が遅れてごめんなさい。言い訳をさせてください。ここ最近、忙しくて、レポートを書く時間が取 れなかったんです。何はともあれ、これが私の３回目のレポートです。日本をたって約半年が経ちました。そんなに長い時間が経ったなんて信じられません。時 間が経つのは本当に本当に早く感じています。特に水泳チームに入ってからは、すごく忙しい日々を送っています。ですから、最近の３か月はまるで３週間しか たっていないようです。ジョークというわけではなく、本当にそう思うくらいです。

数週間前に、私はホストファミリーが変更になりました。あまりにもすぐに別の家に引っ越したので、最初は混乱しました。でも今は、新しいホストファミリー と毎日を楽しく過ごしています。ファミリーのみんなはとてもいい人たちで、私は自分の部屋をもらいました。自分の部屋でずっと過ごしているというわけでは なく、ほとんどの時間を家族と過ごすようにしていますので、ご心配なく。家には遊ぶものがたくさんあります。例えば、卓球台、ピアノ、シアタールーム、広 い裏庭、広い浴槽などです。ですから放課後は（残念ながら水泳チームは終わってしまい、放課後にやることがないのです）、ピアノの練習をしたり、かわいい ホストシスターと一緒にお風呂に入ったり、映画を観たりして過ごしています。

先週はとても忙しくて、水泳の練習ができないほどでした。月曜日には、レックセンター（私たちの水泳の練習場所です）に行って、ロッカーから荷物を持ち 帰ってきました。そのあと、友達が私の家に来てくれて、遅くまで一緒に過ごしました。彼女に浴衣を着せてあげました。とっても似合っていました。火曜日に は、ホストファミリーが車で私を山に連れて行ってくれました。水曜日には、ホストシスターと一緒にバスケットボールの試合を観に行きました。彼女のチーム は負けてしまいましたが、素晴らしい試合でした。その後、私たちはアイスクリームを食べました。木曜日には、友達と中華料理レストランとアイススケートに 行きました。その時に初めてホッケーシューズでスケートをしました。とっても楽しかったです。写真を見ていただけたら、私がどれだけ楽しんだかお分かりだ と思います。金曜日には、友達の誕生日パーティーを開きました。私たちは大量のスナック菓子を食べ、映画を観ました。土曜日は、私の１７歳の誕生日でし た。午前中、友達とテニスをして、午後、ホストファミリーとサーカスに行きました。象に乗って、虎と写真を撮りました。とてもいい経験でした。夜には、仲 の良い友達に誕生日パーティーを開いてもらいました。友達と一緒に過ごして本当に楽しかったです。私たちは卓球等をして楽しみました。先週は素敵な時間を 過ごせました。友達からたくさんのメッセージとプレゼントをもらいました！！！とってもうれしいです！！

ところで、先ほども少しお話ししましたが、水泳のシーズンが終わってしまいました。素敵なチームメイトと一緒に素敵なシーズンを過ごすことができました。 正直なところ、水泳チームに入るなんて思ってもみませんでした。でも、チームに入ったことを少しも後悔していません。今週の水曜日には、水泳チームのパー ティーがあります。チームの最後のイベントになりますので、私はパーティーを楽しむつもりです。話は変わりますが、私の仲良しのベイリーとレイチェルが今 年のお正月に日本に来る予定です。私は日本で彼女たちと過ごすことを今からとても楽しみにしています！！！

次には陸上チームに入るつもりです。たくさんの友達ができることを期待しています。

Hey guys! How are you doing? I’m sorry that my repot was late. Let me excuse. I’ve been on the go these days. So I didn’t have enough time to write report. Anyway, this is my 3rd report. It’s been about half year since I left Japan. I can’t believe that. I always feel time passes super early. Especially after join swim team, I was super busy. Therefore this 3 month was like just 3 weeks. That is not even kidding!

Well couple weeks ago I changed host family. It was happened so early and I was confused first. But now I’m enjoying every day with my new host family. They are so nice and I finally got own room. But I spend almost time with my host family so don’t worry about that. There are a lot of things to do. My host house has ping pong table, piano, theater room, huge backyard and hot tub. So, after school (unfortunately, swim season was over, I have no plan after school.) I sometimes practice piano, get in hot tub with my cute host sister, watch movie, and so on. 

Last week was so busy even I didn’t have swim practice. On Monday, I went to Rec.center (the place which we swam) to get my many stuff from rocker. And after that, my friend came over my house and spend time with her till nigh. I made her to wear Yukata. She looked so cute. On Tuesday, my host sister took me to mountain by 4-wheeler which is like small car. On Wednesday, I went to watch basketball game of my host sister. Though her team lost, it was amazing game. After that, we got ice cream. On Thursday, I went to Chinese restaurant and ice skating with my friends. That was my first time to do it by hockey shoes. It was super fun! You can see how much did I had fun at there from pictures. On Friday, I had birthday party of my friend. We ate bunch of snacks and watched movie. On Saturday, it was my 17th birthday. In the morning, I played tennis with my friend. Afternoon, I went to circus with my family. I rode elephant and took picture with tiger. That was be good experience. At night, I was hold my birthday party by my sweet friends. I had so much fun with them. We played ping pong, game and so on. Anyway I had amazing time last week. I got bunch of massages from my friends and presents!!! How happy I am!!!!!!

By the way, you know swim season was over. It’s been an amazing season with my amazing swim team. I’m thankful for them. To be honest, I don’t know I joined swim team. However, I regret nothing to join swim team. On this Wednesday, swim team has banquet. It will be last swim team event so I’m going to enjoy!! By the way, my best friends Baylee and Rachel will come to visit Japan in this New Year! So I’m super excited to spend time with them in Japan!!!

I’m planning to join track team next. I hope I will be able to make many friends!!!!

アメリカに留学中の髙田真奈さんから、二回目の留学報告が届きました。

またまた遅れてしまってごめんなさい。悲しいことに、留学生活の半分が終わってしまいました。この3ヶ月は本当にいろんなことがありました。特に3つの出来事、ホストファミリーを変えたこと、私の誕生日、そして新しいセメスターが始まりました。

ホストファミリーを変える際に、状況が特殊でコーディネーターに話すことができなかったため、たくさんの人、学校の先生や友達のお母さんが協力してくれま した。感謝してもしきれません。新しいホストファミリーにYanaも一緒に移動しました。今でも一緒の部屋で生活しています。もう私にとって欠かせない存 在です。

たくさんの人に誕生日を祝ってもらいました。一番嬉しかったことが、オハイオのホストマザーと電話で話したことです。話をしたことがとても嬉しかったし、8月よりうまく話せました。次回話すときまでに、さらに成長できたらいいなと思います。

先週から新しいセメスターが始まりました。今期はフィジカルサイエンス、クワイア、スペイン語、応用コミュニケーション(英語)を取っています。この学校 は2学期制なので、このセメスターが終わると私の留学も終わりです…。昨期はオールAを取ることができました。詳しくは次回、表彰の後に書きますね。

月曜日に全校生徒の前で日本についてプレゼンをしました。緊張しましたが、私自身楽しめましたし、たくさんの人によかったと言ってもらえました。
とても悲しい報告があります。昨晩、隣町に留学していた男の子が交通事故で亡くなりました。つい3週間程前、一緒にアイスホッケーの試合を観に行ったんです。ショックを隠せません、安らかな旅立ちを心から祈っています。

I’m sorry to be late to send again. I’m sad because half of the school year was already gone. During this 3 months, I experienced a lot, especially 3 things, to change host family, my birthday, and the new semester started.  

When I changed host family, I was in the special situation and I wasn’t able to talk to my coordinator, therefore, a lot of people, who are teachers in my school or my friends’ mothers, cooperated with me. I wouldn’t have succeeded without their help, I have no words to express my gratitude. Yana also moved to new host family, so I live with her still now. She is essential to me!

I was celebrated my birthday by many people. The happiest thing on my birthday was Kathy, who was my host mother in Ohio, made me a phone call! I was so glad to talk to her, and I could have a conversation with her better than in August. I hope my English will improve more till talking to her again.

The new semester started since last week. I take physical science, choir, Spanish, and applied communication (English). We have 2 periods in our school, it means when this semester will finish, the time to go back to Japan…. By the way, I got all As in last semester. We’ll have a commendation ceremony, so I’ll tell you details after that.

On Monday, I presented about Japan front of whole students in my school. I was nervous little bit but I enjoyed doing it. And many students and teachers said me, “Nice job, Mana!”

I have a very very sad and bad news. Last night, a boy who was an exchange student and stayed in a neighboring town passed away to be involved in a traffic accident. Only 3 weeks ago, we went to watch ice hockey game. I’m so shocked…. I just hope he rests in peace.

カナダに留学中の伊藤緋那子さんから、四回目の留学報告が届きました

こんにちは。みなさんはいかがお過ごしですか？

12月にカナダで最大のイベントがありました。クリスマスです！ホストペアレンツと私は、ペアレンツの親のところに行って、素敵な時間を過ごしました。私 たちは朝早く出て、おじいちゃんとおばあちゃんの家に朝食前に着きました。遅めの朝食の後、私たちはクリスマスツリーの下でプレゼントを開けました。ゲー ムをしてディナーまでの時間を使いました。私たちがしたカードゲームの一つは「カードアゲインストヒューマニティー」というものです。そのゲームでは面白 いルールと汚い言葉を使います。私はなぜかこのゲームが得意でした。ディナーは盛大でしたが、何をその時食べたか覚えていません。というのも、写真を撮る ための物を忘れてしまって記録を取っていないのです。

クリスマス休暇が約2週間あり、その期間、宿題もバスケットボールの練習もありませんでした。私は最近親しくなった友達と映画に行きました。実は、一緒に ランチを食べる友達を変えました。一緒に観た映画のタイトルは「ナイトミュージアム３」です。ストーリーは少し行き当たりばったり感がありましたが、この 映画の雰囲気は気に入りました。私は歴史と恐竜の化石がとっても好きなんです。この映画を見た後、大英博物館に行ってみたくなりました。

1月23日に、私たちのボランティアチームはＰＹＣ（Penhold Youth Club）と呼ばれるボランティア活動をしました。私たちは子供たちや中学生たちと泊まりました。2月2には、ペンホールドの町を変えるためにプレゼン テーションをしまして、その時に初めて私たちの町の町長さんにお会いしました。とても素敵な人でした。

私のレポートがだんだん短くなってきています。そう思いませんか？みなさんに言っておきたいのは、やる気がなくなってきたから短くなってきたというわけで はないという事です。ただ、こちらでの生活を楽しんでいて、そのすべての経験を思い出せないだけなんです。記憶力がだんだん悪くなっているのだと思いま す。ですから、iPodのメモリー機能を使うのを止めました。えッ！？全然関係ないことを書いているですって？ごめんなさい、それではこの辺でレポートを 終わりたいと思います。

どうにかこうにかこの段落も入れて6段落も書きました。グッジョブ！それでは次のレポートでお会いしましょう。さようなら。

Hello. How have you guys been?

On December, there was one of the biggest event in Canada. As you know, it’s Christmas! My host parents and I visited my host grandparents’ house and had a great time there. We left home early in the morning and arrived at their house before breakfast. After having brunch, we opened our own presents under the tree. We played some games and waiting for dinner. One of the card game we played is called Cards Against Humanity, and it has funny rule and dirty words. I was kind of good at it. Dinner was so nice, but I can’t remember what we ate, because I didn’t bring any device to take pictures.  

We had Christmas vacation for about two weeks, and I didn’t have both homework and basketball practice. I went to the movie with my new friends – Actually, I changed friends to eat lunch together. The movie’s title is Night at the Museum Third. I felt the story is little cheat, but I really liked the atmosphere of this movie, because I really like history and fossil of dinosaurs so much. This movie makes me want to go to the British Museum.

On January 23h, our volunteer team had a volunteer activity which is cold PYC, Penhold Youth Club. We stayed over with kids and junior high school students.  

On February 2nd, we had presentation to change town of Penhold, and I saw the mayor of our town for the first tome. He was so nice.

My report is getting more and more short. Don’t you think so?  
However, I want to say that it’s not like my motivation is decrease. I just enjoying everything and can’t remember about most of my experiences well. I’m sure my memory is well deteriorate, so I quit to use memory function on my iPod. It’s nothing to do with you? Sorry, I’ll stop writing.

カナダに留学中の今井真子さんから、四回目の留学報告が届きました

こんにちは！みなさんお元気ですか？私は元気にやっています。前回のレポートからもう２か月もたったんですね。私は今、自分の将来について焦りを感じています。「光陰矢の如し」　本気で自分が何をするのかを考えなければいけません。

私はカナダでクリスマスを盛大にお祝いしました。私たちは３つのホストファミリーの家に行ってプレゼントをもらい、私たちの家で豪勢な夕食を食べました。 写真を見てください。すごい量のプレゼントでしょう！素敵なクリスマスコンサートもありました。「キャロルオブザベル」という曲を知っていますか？これは ウクライナの有名なクリスマスソングの一つです。私は今まで聞いたことがなかったのですが、こちらの人たちはみなこの曲を知っています。学校の合唱で私も この曲を歌いました。

先週すべての期末テストが終わりました。成績はまだわからないのですが、悪くないことを期待しています（笑）。いずれにしても後期が水曜日から始まります。成績については化学と２つの英語の授業が心配ですが、まあたぶん大丈夫でしょう。

話は変わりますが、週に１回放課後にエクストラの美術の授業を受けています。この間の土日はアートワークショップでした。ブランドン大学の美術の教授が ラッセルに来て、私たちにたくさんのことを教えてくれました。私以外の受講生はみな大人の方々でしたので、私はほかの受講生からもたくさんのことを学ぶこ とができました。面白かったです！次のワークショップが楽しみです。

私はファミリーが通っている教会のお手伝いをしています。今、教会ではオルガン奏者がいないのです。どうしてなのかわからないのですが、私が教会でオルガ ン伴奏をしています。私が行っている教会がその教会の礼拝のすぐあとに始まるので、礼拝のある日は少しせわしなくしています。でも、なかなかできる経験で はないので、うれしいです。そして…、特に新しいことはもうないはず…。それでは春にまたレポートを送ります。

Hello! How’s everyone? I’m good. I can’t believe it already passed 2 months after last report. And I’m feeling kind like impatience about my future. “Time flies like an arrow”, I should think what I should do, seriously.

I had such a big Christmas in Canada. We went to 3 host family’s house to open presents, and we had a big supper at our house. Look at this picture, so many presents there were! And I also had nice Christmas concerts. Do you know “Carrol of the bell”? This is one of the famous Ukrainian Christmas song. I had never heard before, but everyone knows this song. I sung this one in school choir. 

And I finished all exam last week! I still don’t know how score did I get. I hope it’s not BAD… haha. Anyway, second semester will be begin on Wednesday! I’m worrying about Chemistry and 2 English class. But it’ll be fine, I hope.

By the way, I’m taking extra art class after school once a week. Last Saturday and Sunday was art workshop. The professor of art of the Brandon University came to Russell, and he taught us so many. All people was adult except me, so I learned a lot by everyone. It was interesting! I can’t wait next workshop!

And I’m helping the church which my host family goes. Because the church lost the Organ player. I don’t know why, but I’m playing the Organ for them. It makes me busy little bit because my church start right away after that church. But it’s good for me and it makes me happy! 
And… nothing new anymore, maybe. See you in spring!

カナダに留学中の山本 安佳莉さんから、三回目の留学報告が届きました。

みなさんこんにちは！いかがお過ごしですか？私は元気です。こちらに来てから6か月が経ちました。時間が経つのは本当に早いですね。私の留学期間は残すところ半分です。今は充実した時間を過ごせています。

話は変わりますが、私の町で温かい日が続きました。今この町は札幌よりも温かいです（笑）。信じられますか？毎日気温は5度以上です。冬がもう終わってほ しいと願っています。というのもの、1月の初旬は恐ろしいほど寒くて、ベッドから出られなかったくらいでした（笑）。まあ、私は元気にやっています。

学校生活についてお話しますね。たしか以前にお話ししたと思うのですが、私の学校はかなり大きな学校です。在籍している生徒数は２５００人以上です。１１月に学校の体育館でバスケットボールの試合がありました。なんとその期間中は、授業がありませんでした。

学校にはたくさんの留学生がいて、中国・ロシア・ドイツ等のたくさんの国からの生徒と友達になりました。こんなにたくさんの生徒がいる中で日本人は私だけ です。この状況はむしろたくさんの国の人と仲良くなれるチャンスだと思っています。先週私は前期が終わり、期末試験を受けました。もちろん、試験中は辞書 を使うことができません。ですから、テストの見直しには苦労しました。

クリスマス前に、私にとってのもう一つのホストペアレンツに再会しました。彼らは私がカナダに来た時の研修期間にお世話になった最初のファミリーです。 ファミリーのお孫さんたちにも再会することができました。私たちは私の日本人の友達と一緒に買い物に出かけました。４か月振りの再会でしたので、また会え たことがうれしく、素敵な時間を過ごすことができました。

クリスマスはファザーの実家で過ごしました。クリスマスの朝にパンケーキを食べました。実のところ、この時にメープルを初めて食べました。 カナダと言えばメープルと言われるくらいカナダのイメージとして定着していますが、こちらの人たちは以外にもメープルをあまり食べないのです。メープルと 食べたとき感動しました。やっぱりカナダのメープルは格別です。日本に戻るときにお土産で買って帰りますね（笑）。サンタクロースも私の家にやってきまし たよ！ファミリーからたくさんのプレゼントをもらいました。私は日本のクリスマスよりも、海外のクリスマスの方が好きです。

クリスマスが終わり、今はまた雰囲気がガラッと変わっています。女子ワールドカップがカナダで開催されることをご存知ですか？そして、エドモントンはグ ループＡの最初の２試合の会場で、なんと開幕戦が私の町の私の家のすぐ近くで行われるんですよ！！なでしこジャパンが予選を通過し、エドモントンに来てく れることを願っています。ワールドカップの試合が今から待ち遠しいです。

次の学期は２月から始まります。心機一転してすべてのことに取り組みたいと思います。

Hi guys! How are you doing? I’m awesome. It had been 6 month, times flies so fast. My study abroad term was half gone. I’m having a great time.

By the way in my city we have a succession of warm days. And now my city is warmer than Sapporo. hha. Can you believe it? The temperature exceeds 5 ℃ every day. I hope pass this winter. Cause at the beginning of January was glacial I was not ready to get out of bed. Lol. Anyway I am doing fine now.

I am going to talk about my school life this time. Maybe I already talk about before my school is really really big. The number of students enrolled is more than 2500. The basketball game was played at my school gym in November. During the period we didn’t have class.

Also my school has many International students I made many country’s friends like Chinese, Russian, German…. (But Japanese is only me.) I think chance to socialize with other country’s people. Last week I finished my first semester and had final exams. Of course I can’t use the dictionary during an exam, so I had a hard time with exam revision.

Before Christmas, I met my another host parents. They were my first host family when I came Canada. And their grand daughters. And then went to the shopping with my Japanese friend. We met each other for the first time in 4 month. It was lovely time for us.

I spent with my host father’s family at Christmas. I ate pancakes in that morning. Actually it was first time to eat maple. Canada is exude an image of a maple, but people don’t eat that unexpectedly. It really moved me, cause real Canadian maple was amazing. I will buy that for someone back home. Lol. And Santa Claus came to my house!! I got many present from my host family. I like abroad’s Christmas better than Japanese one.

And now, for something completely different. Do you know FIFA Women’s World Cup will be held in Canada? and Edmonton will host the first two Group A games, this opening game will held at my city and near my house!! I hope Nadeshiko Japan win the preliminary matches in group games and come to Edmonton. I am already looking forward to the game.

My next semeseter is going to start in February, I wanna start everything on a new note.

アメリカに留学中の阿部文奈さんから、二回目の留学報告が届きました。

アメリカに留学中の櫻田晴乃さんから、三回目の留学報告が届きました

あけましておめでとうございます。もう2015年ですね。今年はもう帰国する年ですし、進路について決めなきゃいけなかったりと大変な年になりそう です。1日は凄くゆっくり感じても1か月って意外とあっという間で気づいたら帰国になっちゃいそうで、本当に月日は早いです。日々楽しみ、集中しながら自 分自身を成長していけたらいいと思っています。

では、さっそく学校であったクリスマス行事について話しますね。毎年この時期にはクリスマスダンスパーティーがあります。でもその日と同じ日に初めてのチ アの大会もありました。チアの大会ではたくさん人が来ていてすごく緊張しました。私は3つのラウンドにすべて出ましたが、本当にすごい活気と緊張感で失神 するかと思いました（笑）ですが、失敗することもなく、最終的に2位に入ったんですね！もう飛ぶようにうれしかったです。すごいいい出だしで、チアをもっ と頑張っていこうという気持ちになりました。話を戻って、そのチアの大会が6時に終わった後、1時間かけて家に戻りすでに7時。シャワーに入って髪をセッ トしてメイクアップをして、終わったころにちょうどデートの相手だった人が来たんですね。私はたまたま仲の良かったブラジルからの留学生と行く約束をして いました。彼は、彼のホストマザーと一緒に作った腕につけるコサージュを作ってプレゼントしてくれたんですね。これは彼がつける胸元のコサージュと同じデ ザインですごく素敵でした。日本に持ち帰ってもずっと大事にしようと思いました。写真を撮ったりして、ダンスパーティーに行きました。最初はハイヒールを 履きながら踊ってたんですがいつしか脱ぎ捨てて踊っていました。本当に楽しい夜でした。

アメリカの本場のクリスマスはすごく盛大でした。アメリカではテンクスギビングの後から一気にクリスマスモードになり飾りつけなどを始めるんですね。たく さんの家が外壁にクリスマスライトをつけるのですごくきれいでどれが一番か比べたりしたのは楽しかったです。私の家では外壁以外にも暖炉の周りや壁を装飾 しました。ちょうど陶器を作るクラスでクリスマスのオーナメントを作成していたので、大きなツリーに飾りました。そして12月25日、朝起きたらたくさん のクリスマスプレゼントがありました。いくつになってもわくわくするものですね。私の好きなホリスターの服やカードなどをもらいました。そして私は、ホス トペアレンツに大きなキャンドルとマグカップをプレゼントしました。ディナーも豪華ですごくおいしかったです。驚いたことに、アメリカではツリーを大みそ かまで家庭によっては年明けまで飾っとくんですね。日本ではすぐ片づけて大晦日、お正月に向けて準備するのでびっくりです。文化の違いですね。ですが、こ んな大きなクリスマスは初めてだったし、本物に触れられたことにすごくうれしかったです。

大みそかはちょうど、朝の10時に日本が新年を迎えました。ですが、こっちでは日本ほどスペシャルでもなく、普通に過ごしたので、そこはお餅を食べたり年 越しそばを食べたりする日本との文化がとても恋しくなりました。特にディナーにピザを食べたときは、アメリカを確信しました（笑）とはいっても、年越しの カウントダウンはホームパーティーをしていてみんなで新年を迎えたのでいい2015年、最初の思い出となりました。

冬休みも終わり、ようやくスキークラブが始まりました。2回も行けて楽しかったですがミシガン州は山が全然ないので、札幌に比べたらほとんど丘です。札幌 みたいな都市もあって山もあるなんて贅沢なところだと思いました。あと4回ありますし、新しい友達もできてすごく楽しみです！

2学期が明日から始まります。新しくクワイヤー（日本でいう音楽）に挑戦しようと思ってて、それは前の学期で取れなかったからです。春にあるミュージカルにも挑戦できるかもしれません。すごく今から楽しみです！気持ちを切り替えて、心機一転、折り返し地点頑張ります。

Happy New Year! It’s already 2015. This year is supported to go back to Japan and should be so hard to decide the way for the future. I thought that one day is really slowly but one month is really fast for me. It’s kind of weird but I’m going to stay here just for 6 months left. Of course I’ll enjoy each things and concentrate to improve myself. 

Anyway I’m talking about Christmas event in school. I had Christmas dance party in my school but also my first cheer competition too. I was so nervous at competition and participated all 3 round. There were many audiences. I was feeling kind of faint at the time. But I didn’t fail anything and we finally got 2nd place! I was so surprised and glad. It’s a good beginning and makes me keeping cheer. Competition was over at 6;00. I left there and at home at 7:00, but Christmas dance starts at 8:00 so I had time to prepare just for 1 hour. I took a shower and wore dress and made up. My date was coming after I’ve just finished them. My date is one of exchange student from Brazil. He is so nice guy and one of my best frinds. He and his mother made flower bracelet. This corsage and boutonniere are same design and really beautiful. I was so appreciate for them to make it for me. I still save them and wanna bring it to Japan. We took picture together and went to party. I danced with high heels at first but I took of them during dance because it easy to dance for me. It was such a great night for us. I won’t forget forever.

I’ll talking about American Christmas next. I experienced real Christmas in America. In America, they already start to prepare for Christmas after thanksgiving. They decorate their each houses’ outside so night is really shinning and beautiful. I liked to compare houses and found what house is the best. In my house, we decorated around fire place and wall. Of course we put big Christmas tree. I take ceramics class and made my own Christmas ornaments, so I put them on tree. On December 25th, I wake up and found many presents around tree. I’ve never seen such a lot of presents. I freaked out and opened presents. I got clothes of horister which is one of bland that I like the best in America and cards and so on. Anyway many staffs! I presented big candle and coffee cup to my host parents. We ate big Christmas dinner too. I came to know that many Americans keep putting tree until new year eve, so I was surprised because Japanese clean up tree and wait for omisoka and newyear. Anyway I can’t experience such a great Christmas in japan so I touched real wonderful Christmas in America. 

On New year eve, I saw new year (Japanese time) at 10 o’clock here. I missed at the time because Christmas is more important than new year in America so we don’t do special.　I just ate pizza for dinner on Christmas eve so I totally felt AMERICA. I wanted buckwheat flower noodle or rice cakes and to visit shrine. Actually I enjoyed new year party here so this became my first memory in 2015. 

After Christmas break, ski club have stared and I’ve been there for 2 times. Skiing is really fan but Michigan state doesn’t have big mountain like Sapporo so it’s like hill. I have more 4 times so I definitely enjoy skiing with new friends!  

New semester is starting from tomorrow and I try to take choir as I should be able to participate musical in spring. I was interested in this class but I couldn’t take it last semester, so I’m excited! It’s time to turn over a new leaf! I’ll have fan to stay for half year in America!

こんにちはみなさん、マリナです。いかがお過ごしですか？レポートの提出が遅れてごめんなさい。これが2回目のレポートを書いています。アメリカに来てもう5か月がたっただなんて、うそみたいです。学校の1学期が終わりました。時間が経つのは本当に早いです。

12月にホストファミリーとグランドキャニオンに行ってきました。グランドキャニオンは本当に素晴らしかったです。まるで絵を見ているかのようでしたの で、なんだか奇妙な感じがしました。私が見たものがすべて岩だなんて信じられません。グランドキャニオンに行くのに汽車を使いました。汽車はずいぶんゆっ くりでした。私は速い乗り物の方が好きです。グランドキャニオンを早く見たいのに！でも汽車も楽しかったです。たくさんのおいしい食べ物を食べました。グ ランドキャニオンに着くと、日本人を見つけました。私は不思議とうれしくなっちゃいました。グランドキャニオンは本当に本当に素晴らしいところでした。ま た行きたいです。

アメリカのクリスマスについてお話しようと思います。正直に言うと、私はクリスマスを期待していませんでした。どうしてかはわかりませんが。でも、私はバ カでした。アメリカのクリスマスが本当に楽しいものだということをまったく理解していませんでした。クリスマスツリーを買うためにツリーのお店に行きまし た。ツリーを選ぶことが出来ました。そして、木を伐りました。難しかったですが、最後には何とか切り終わることが出来ました。ツリーは私にとっては大きい と思ったのですが、ホストファミリーにとってはそれほど大きくはないそうです。私はこんなに大きいのに、彼らにとってはそれほどでもないと聞いて、びっく りしてしまいました。その後、私とホストシスターはツリーに飾りつけをしました。家にはたくさんの飾りがありました。飾りつけ作業は面白かったです。こう して可愛いクリスマスツリーが完成しました。

ホストファミリーのためにクリスマスプレゼントを買いました。ファミリーも私のためにプレゼントを買ってくれました。クリスマスの日にプレゼントを開けま した。私がもらったプレゼントはブランケット、アリエルのぬいぐるみ、オラフのぬいぐるみ、ヘッドホンとボディークリームです。プレゼントをもらえてうれ しかったです。クリスマスの事が好きになりました（笑）。

聞いてください！先週ディズニーランドに行ったんです。天気はあいにく最悪でしたが、とーーーっても楽しかったです。最高でした！！素敵な経験が出来ました。ディズニーランドが大好きです。絶対にもう一度行きたいです。とっても楽しかったです。

このように私はカリフォルニアでの生活を楽しんでいます。カリフォルニアが大好きですが、時々日本が恋しくなります。でも、大丈夫、私は元気です。そして、これから後4か月しかここにいることが出来ません。私には短すぎます。ですから、私はこれかも頑張ります！！

Hey guys I’m Marina. How are you doing? I’m sorry for too late. I’m writing second report. I can’t believe. I already spend 5 months in America. And I finished 1st semester at school. Time is too fast!

In December, I went to Grand Canyon with my host family. Grand Canyon was really amazing. Looks like picture. I felt like kind of strange. I couldn’t believe there all rocks! 
I used train for go to Grand Canyon. That was slow. I was like Hurry! I wanna see Grand Canyon! But train was fun. There had a lot of foods. I ate it. Food was good. And then I arrived Grand Canyon. I saw Japanese. I was happy. I don’t know why. 
Grand Canyon was really nice place. I miss Grand Canyon…haha

I gonna talk about Christmas in America. Honestly, I didn’t excited Christmas. I don’t know why. But I was stupid. I didn’t know about American Christmas is really fun. 
I went to like a tree store for get Christmas tree. I could choose tree. And I cut tree! It was hard. So I cut only last. Tree was big. But My host family said tree is not big. I was like really!? And then Me and my host sister put ornament to tree. They had a lot of ornament. It was fun. We made petty Christmas tree.

I bought Christmas present for my host family. And My host family bought present for me. And we opened present in Christmas. I got blanket, ariel doll, olaf doll, headphone, and body cream.　it was made me happy. I love Christmas! Haha

Guess what! I went to Disneyland last week. Weather was horrible tho. But It was sooooooo fun. There were awesome!! I got good experience. I looove Disneyland XD I will go to again. I’m so excited!!

So I’m having fun in California. I love California. I miss Japan sometimes. But it’s OK. I’m fine. And I can stay only about 4 months here. That’s too short for me. That’s why I have to do my best! I will!
