アメリカ、ユタ州に留学中の佐藤花柚さんから第１回目の留学報告が届きました。

みなさん初めまして！私はアメリカのユタ州に留学をしている佐藤花柚です。

留学が始まってから約１ヶ月経ちました。最初の１０日間は他の日本人留学生とともにアメリカに慣れるためのオリエンテーションを行いました。ここで出会った友達やファミリーとは今でも連絡を取り合うくらい仲が良くなりました！このオリエンテーションのおかげもあり、何もわからない状態で留学をスタートすることはありませんでした。

私のファミリーはスペイン人の家庭で私以外にモザンビークからの留学生がいます。アメリカにいながらスペイン、モザンビークという多様な文化を学ぶことができています笑最初はファミリーとうまくやっていけるかなと心配していましたが、そんな必要もないくらい毎日笑い合いながら過ごすことができています。料理もアメリカだとピザやハンバーガーなどを想像される方も多いと思いますが、スペイン料理を提供してくれるので野菜など比較的ヘルシーに生活できています笑

話は変わりますが面白いことがあったので紹介させてください笑学校生活が始まってから１週間も経たないうちに自転車を乗っていた時に交通事故に遭いました。笑これだけ聞くと心配される方も多いと思いますが、レントゲンなどを撮って何も問題がなかったので大丈夫です！！（海外の病院はまた日本と違う感じで良い経験になりました笑）面白いのはここからで、ユタ州は１５歳から車を運転できるのですがぶつかった相手はまさかの同い年で同じ授業を取っていました笑文化の違いはこういうところで出るのだなと痛感しました笑いまだに学校で会うのは気まずいです笑みなさんも他の国に行く際は必ず交通ルールを理解してから行ってください！！笑

最後に私の留学中の目標をお伝えします。私の留学中の目標は「何事にも挑戦する」です。アメリカに来てから自ら行動しないと何も起こらないと良く思います。ですからこれからの約８ヶ月間全力で様々なことに挑戦して、充実した留学生活にしようと思います！

Hello everyone! This is Hana Sato from Utah.

Today I’ll introduce about my best memory in this 1 month. I went to the yellow stone national park with my host family and my host family’s friend. They had 2 exchange students too. They were from Denmark and Germany. I’m Japanese and my host family is Spanish my roommate is Mozambican, and their family was American, so we had 6 country 4 continent at that time. Isn’t that funny? We went camping for 3 nights. It was the first time going camping, but I had sooooo much fun. The view was of course beautiful, and it was really relaxing. I was touched to see this view because it was a completely different view from Japan. If you have a chance to go to Wyoming, you should go!!

Next, I’ll tell you about my goal for the exchange year. My goal is “try everything”. My daily life is totally different from Japan and it’s difficult to make a move, but if you won’t move you can’t do anything in here. I’ll do my best to try everything and make this exchange year a great one!

カナダに留学中の佐孝瑞葉さんから第１回目の留学報告が届きました。

It’s been about a month since I arrived in Canada, and while there’s much to share about family life here, I’ll keep it brief.

My first host family was an elderly couple with two adorable dogs. We got along well and watched movies together every night. Unfortunately, due to my host mother’s health issues, she was hospitalized, and I had to change host families. In my new home, I quickly became close with my three host sisters. A week after the move, I received the news that my first host mother had passed away. It was my first experience losing someone close, and it took time to process. I attended her funeral to say my final goodbye.

While these unexpected events have made my days busy and emotionally exhausting, my new host family has been incredibly supportive. Their warmth has helped me keep going. Sometimes, I find myself reflecting on deeper questions like, “Why are we born?” or “Why does life end?”—philosophical thoughts I hadn’t considered much before.

My goal during this exchange is to chill. One of my host sisters said her goal is “to live calmly and do what she enjoys,” and I found that beautiful. At 16, I realize I’ve been rushing through life, so I want to learn how to manage my emotions better and live without unnecessary pressure.

カナダに到着してから、約一か月が経ちました。今回のレポートのテーマ「家庭生活」では、文字には収まりきらない程のたくさんのことがありました。ほんの少しだけですが、皆さんに共有したいと思います。最初にお世話になったホストファミリーは、老夫婦の方で、可愛い犬が二匹もお出迎えしてくれました。毎日二人から様々なことを学び、映画好きの私たちは、毎晩一緒に鑑賞しました。コミュニケーションに困ることもなく、いい関係が築けていたと思います。しかし、ホストペアレンツが持病を持っており、ホストマザーが病院に搬送される事態になりました。そのため、急遽ホストチェンジすることになりました。新しいお家では、ホストシスター３人と仲良くなることができました。移動して一週間ほど経ってから、私のお世話になった最初のホストマザーが亡くなったという知らせが届きました。自分の身近な人を失った経験がなかったため、受け入れるのも理解することにも時間がかかりました。彼女のお葬式に参加し、最期のお別れをしてきました。予想もしていなかったことが次々に起こり、本当に忙しい毎日です。心身が疲れ切った日々を過ごしていますが、ホストシスター達やファミリーからたくさんの温かい言葉をもらい、何とか頑張って生きてます。時に、「なぜ人間は生まれたのか」、「なぜ命には終わりがあるのか」、そんなことを考えてみたり、哲学の世界を行ったり来たりしました。

そんな私の留学の目標は、「チル」です。ホストシスターたちと将来の話をしたときに、「ほんわり、自分の好きなこと、したい事をする」と言っていたシスターが、とても素敵だなあと思いました。まだ１６歳、もう１６歳と思う方もいるかもしれませんが、今までの私は生き急いでいたように感じます。プレッシャーを感じてストレスにならないよう、うまく心のマネジメントをしていきたいです。

アメリカに留学中の宮崎野永さんから第１回目の留学報告が届きました。

先生お久しぶりです！！期限ぎりぎりでしっかりと出しました！！家庭生活ではとてつもなくエンジョイしています。最近の連休ではホストファミリーのお友達の湖にある別荘に連れて行ってもらい、ほかのホストファミリーのお友達が持っているボートに乗ったりジェットスキーに乗ったりチューブに乗ったり、しっかり日焼け止めも乗らず真っ赤になりました。やはりテキサスの日差しは侮れないです。日常的には最近はホストしスタートずっとギルモアガールズを夜通し見てそのままソファーで寝るという何とも幸福な毎日を送っています。たまになんか重いなと思って目を覚ますと目の前にネコの尻の穴があったりなどビッグサプライズもあります。最近、三匹いた猫の中の子猫が肺がんでなくなってしまってとても悲しむ―℃が流れましたがホストファザーが手作り人力飛行機を披露してくれてとても和みました。そのほかは家の近くのウォルマートに一段だけジャパニーズコーアがあるのですがそこにおいてある商品をひとつずつホストファミリーと食べて評論会をしています。今のとこ人気なのはコアラのマーチです。しかもノーマルのチョコ味ではなくイチゴ味のほうです。家事等は私が小腹をすいたときに食べ物を作ったり、ホストファミリーの誰かが料理をしているときは私がお皿を洗ったりとか、しっかりファミリーの一員です。

ほかに何を書けばいいのかわかりませんが、ホストシスターのクラッシュの話をするときが一番楽しいです。ホストシスターめっちゃモテます。こんな感じでいいのはわかりませんが、これで提出します☆

アメリカ、インディアナ州に留学中の吉川ミアさんから第１回目の留学報告が届きました。

こんにちは！アメリカのインディアナ州に留学中の吉川ミア愛実です。アメリカに来てもう2ヶ月が経ちました。この2ヶ月の間だけでもたくさんの出来事が起こり、あっという間に時が過ぎていってしまうと思いました。 私は普段は留学生の寮で生活し、ホリデーの期間にはホストファミリーの家に滞在します。寮では様々な国の人と出会いました。韓国やベトナム、メキシコ、トルコ、ドイツ、日本人の子もいました。私のルームメイトは韓国の子で一つ下の学年でした。最初はあまり会話が弾まず気まずい空間の中で荷解きをしました、、寮のご飯も想像していたより良く美味しく食べられました🙂 到着して最初の3日ほどはオリエンテーションをして買い物や、ご飯をみんなで食べにいきのんびり過ごしました。 そして8月が始まりついに学校が始まりました。初めてのスクールバスにクラス、初日は緊張してずっとドキドキしていました。しかし今ではだんだんと慣れてきて友達もでき、大変ですが楽しく1日1日を過ごしています！ 寮では乾燥機が壊れたり、トイレが詰まったりとトラブルもありましたが笑って解決し、寮生のみんなのこともだんだんわかり、距離が縮まった気がします。週末は近くの公園で毎週コンサートや映画が放映されるので寮のみんなと行って楽しんでます。近くの野球場で試合があった日には花火も打ち上げられました。アメリカの花火は日本のように風情がなくただ単にどんどん打ち上げられていて面白かったです。９月初めの三連休では数学のクラスでできた友達の家にホームステイをさせていただきました。そこでは日本食レストランに連れてってもらったり、フェスティバルに連れてってもらったりと寮では行けないところへ行けてとても楽しく過ごすことができました！ 留学の目標は、一年という長いようで短い期間なので1日1日を大切にして、ホームカミングやプロムなどのイベントも全力で楽しんで参加したいです。さらに、いろいろなクラブやチームに参加して交流を増やしていきたいです。これからテストもあるので勉強もしっかりして無事日本に戻れるように頑張ります。近くにジムもあるので定期的に通って太り過ぎないようにも気をつけたいです😀気持ちが沈んでしまうこともしばしばありますが何事もポジティブに考えてこれからの留学生活最後まで走り抜けたいです。

Hi. I’m Mia. I’m studying in a high school in Indiana states, U.S. It has been two months since I came to the U.S.

I’m living at　international student dormitory and stay with host family during holidays. In the dormitory, I met many students from different countries like Korea, Vietnam, Mexico, Turkey and Germany also there are few Japanese. My roommate is Korean. At the first time we didn’t talk much, so we had awkward time. The meals in the dormitory are not so bad more than I thought. We had three days orientation after arriving. We went to shopping, eat out and spend relaxed time together.

The school started on August 1st.Everything was my first time to riding the school bus and taking classes with Americans. I was super nervous on the first day. But, now I get used to the school life here and I made some friends. It’s sometime hard but I am still spending enjoyable days. At the dormitory, there were some troubles like the drying machine were broken and the toilet was stuck, but we solved the troubles with laugh, and I am getting to know the dorm mates. I feel we get closer to the dorm mates little by little. During the three days holiday in September, I stayed in the host family who is the family of my friend in math class. They took me to the Japanese restaurant and festival. I was glad that I could go to the place where I can’t go in the dormitory.

My goals for study abroad are to cherish every single day and enjoy the events like homecoming and prom. In addition, I want to try to participate to the club and sports team, then I want to increase chance to interact. There is an exam in October, so I will do my best. I have gym near by the dormitory, so I will workout to not be fat. Sometime I feel depressed but I try change mind and I will try hard to be positive. Then I want to keep pu

ニュージーランドのオークランド、パクランガ・カレッジに留学中のグレイグ咲良さんから第２回目の留学報告が届きました。

ニュージーランドにきて４ヶ月くらい経ちます。現地での生活にはすっかり慣れ、毎日が充実しています。今回のテーマは学校生活です。学校は共学で人数がとっても多いです。授業などはしっかりとついていけているし、各クラスに友達も作ることができました。私の学校は、授業以外基本外です。教室移動も外だし、ランチタイムも外です。雨が降っていても外でお昼を食べないといけないのはさすがに慣れません。今は冬なのでなおさらです。寒すぎます。なので最近はお昼を食べるのをあきらめ、図書館に避難しています。それに、学校で傘を差したことがありますか？オークランドはお昼とかに急に雨が降り出すので傘は必需品なのです。でも、授業はとても楽しいです。私は、数学、理科、ビジネス、デザイン、体育、英語を取っているのですが、その中でも数学と体育が私のお気に入り教科です。でも体育はやる種目によっては好きではないです。なぜなら私のクラスは３０人くらいいるのですが、３人しか女子がいなく、バドミントンやバレーボールなどの競技は楽しいんですが、ラグビーとかになると男子が暴走しだして怖いんです笑　ですが毎日の学校はとてもたのしいし、充実した生活ができているなと思います。休日に学校でできた友達とショッピングに行ったりもしています。Cityまではバスで１時間くらいかかるのですがそっちまで行ったらたくさん買い物できるしおいしいものも食べられます。それに、私は平日に２回テニスクラブに通っています。そこでも別の学校の子とかとも友達になれ、楽しんでテニスをすることもできています！これからも、あと残り８か月間楽しんで、もちろん勉強も頑張ってニュージーランド生活を送っていきたいなと思います！

I’ve been in New Zealand for about four months now. I’ve gotten used to life here and my days are full of enjoyment. The theme this time is school life. My school is coeducational and has a very large number of students. I’m keeping up well with the classes and have made friends in each of my classes. My school is mostly outdoors except for the classrooms. Moving between classes is done outside, and lunchtime is also outside. Even when it rains, we have to eat our lunch outside, which I’m still not used to it. It’s even harder to get used to since it’s winter now. It’s really cold. Recently, I’ve given up on eating lunch outside and have been spending time in the library. Also, have you ever used an umbrella at school? In Auckland, it often suddenly rains around afternoon, so an umbrella is necessary.

But the classes are very enjoyable. I’m taking Mathematics, Science, Business, Design, Physical Education, and English. Mathematics and Physical Education are my favorite subjects. However, I don’t always like Physical Education depending on the sport that we play. This is because there are about 30 students in my class, but only three of us are girls. I enjoy sports like badminton and volleyball, but when it comes to rugby, the boys start to get wild and it can be a bit scary.

Even though that, every day at school is very fun and I feel that my life is satisfying. On weekends, I go shopping with friends I’ve made at school. It takes about an hour by bus to get to the city, but once there, I can do a lot of shopping and enjoy delicious food. Also, I go to a tennis club twice a week, where I’ve made friends from other schools and enjoy playing tennis. I hope to continue enjoying my left eight months here and, of course, work hard on my studies while experiencing life in New Zealand!

ニュージーランドのオークランド、パクランガ・カレッジに留学中のグレイグ咲良さんから第1回目の留学報告が届きました。

ニュージーランドにきて２週間くらい経ちました。短いようで長いです。私のホストファミリーはとてもやさしくすごく面白い家族です。一緒にいて楽しく、スポーツ観戦などにも連れて行ってくれました。ご飯もとてもおいしいです。この家族でよかったなと私は思います。私のほかにもう一人ドイツからの留学生がいるのですが、その子とも仲良くなりショッピングなどにも行きました。留学の目標は、今よりもっと英語を身に着け将来に役立てられるようにしたいです。また、この留学を通してニュージーランドの文化なども知り、いろんな人と出会いたいです。

Two weeks have passed since I came to New Zealand. My host family is very kind and funny. I really like being with them. The food is also very delicious. At the dinner table, we talk about our day. I’m glad that I came to stay with this family. Also, there is a girl from Germany staying here, and she is so kind and we’ve become good friends. My goal for studying abroad is to improve my English, to learn about New Zealand culture and to meet a lot of people. I’ll try my best and I hope to have a good time.

アメリカ合衆国ネバダ州 Shadow Ridge High Schoolに留学した瀧上　凪早さんからのレポートです。

こんにちは。ネバダ州のシャドウリッジハイスクールに留学していた滝上凪早です。私の留学の総括として1番よかったと思えることは、将来したいことが初めて明確に現実的に決まったことです。今回は書きたいことがあったので今なんとなく書き綴っています。私のお話ししたいことは人種差別についてです。最近コロナウイルスでアジア人が差別されているというニュースを聞いたことがあると思います。私は人種差別的なことをされたような気がします多分。そんな大きなことじゃないので大声で人種差別された！！とは言えないんですけど、このコロナウイルスが流行してきてだんだんウイルスに対してみんなが警戒しはじめたくらいの時にヒストリーの先生にクソ外人と突然言われました。まあびっくり。コロナが流行るまでは普通に優しい先生で好きな先生だったのにちょっとショックでした。でも別にもう数回しか顔見ないし、と思って適当に無視しておきました。他にも普通に歩いてるだけで見知らぬ人からチャイニーズって言われたりとかコロナ菌扱いみたいなのを裏でされたこともありました。でも誰でも持ってる可能性のあるウイルスをアジア人というだけで絶対持ってるみたいな風に扱うのっ全然する意味がわからないですよね。このご時世人種とか関係なく助け合わなきゃいけないのに。私のお友達でもメキシコとアメリカのハーフの子がいて、その子は見た目は全然メキシコの血が入ってるようには見えなくて、それで親戚とお店にいたら、自分の親戚をビーナー（メキシコ人を差別する時に使われる言葉）とバカにされたことがあるという話も聞きました。たかが肌の色が違うだけ、と言っていました。でもつくづく差別について考えるとこういうのって永遠になくならないんだろうなーと思ってしまいます。一人一人育つ環境も違って親から影響されて人種差別が始まったり今回みたいな病気から差別が始まったり、無くせないものなんだなと思ってしまいます。でも差別の対象にならないためというか、気にしないで生きていける人間になるには堂々と自分の国を好きになることかなと思います。

このままだと暗い話で終わってしまいそうなのであったかいお話をします。学校が閉まってる間にファストフード店のドライブスルーに言ったんですけど、お店などがしまっていたり、お店から物がなくなったりしてストレスを感じているだろうってことで前の車の人が私たちの分のお会計を済ませてくれていました。こんなの日本じゃありえないなーととっても思いやりのある行動だなー素晴らしいなーと感心しました。なので私たちも後ろの人のお会計を払いました。本当に素晴らしい、友達とかでなくても支え合えるってとっても素敵なことだと思いました。

hello:) I’m Nasa staying shadow ridge high school in Nevada. I think the best thing I’ve got during studying abroad is figuring out what I want to do in the future.

I’m writing this right now because i want to talk about what I experienced at the end of school. i am going to tell you all what i experienced and my thoughts. I think everybody even in japan heard about that Asians are being victims of racism. And also i experienced that. Not like a violence, but my U.S. history teacher suddenly said “freakin’ foreigner” to me. I was so surprised at that time and couldn’t say anything. Because he was really being nice to me since the school began. I know this is not a big deal, compare to the other cases which you all know on the news. But I was just so surprised because he said that to my face but I’m still glad that I experienced that. If I’m in Japan, I would never know how it feels like. I have argued with my friends, they said it’s just the skin color and I agree with that. But I still feel like racism never be gone. I believe that the most important thing to not get hurt from racism is to proudly love yourself.

Also I’m gonna talk about a good story after Coronavirus spreading. My host family was gonna get some hamburgers at the place has drive thru. Our total was about $50, but it was already paid by the driver in front of us. And the cashier said they just keep paying for the people behind them. Because everybody feels stressful to stay home all day then whoever is being so sweet started doing this thing. I never got that idea to make someone happy. I bet this kind of thing never happens in Japan. It was so sweet and surprised me.

アメリカ合衆国メイン州 Mountain Valley High Schoolに留学中の 大川　日菜子さんからの第３回目のレポートです。

こんにちは、メイン州のおおかわです！

コロナウイルスのせいで結局留学が途中で終わる事になり強制帰国になりました！！思いつく限りの悪態は全て吐き終わったので、今更何もありませんがとりあえず死ぬほど悔しいですね　せっかくここまでやってきて残り約三か月と最高に楽しい行事が待ってたのに！！

ということで、帰って来てしまってはいますが帰国前に書き進めてたレポート終わらせます！

　先日（三月のはじめです…まだ一ヶ月前なのに遠い昔みたい）Winter formal？ Winter carnival？どちらとも呼ぶらしいのですけど、がありました！これは秋くらいにもあったHome coming　のウィンターバージョンみたいな感じで、またダンスがある週は毎日○○デーみたいな楽しめる日がありました。PJデー（パジャマで登校）や先生の真似をする日（先生や職員の人は生徒の真似をする）、ペアになってwordを作る日（inappropriateなwordを10人くらいで作ってた男の子たちは先生たちにみんなで写真とってるとこがばれてめっちゃ怒られてました（笑））、などなど、あとはスキーか映画に行くかを選ぶ日があって（この日は絶対参加しないとダンスに参加できないからみんな文句言いながらもちゃんと学校来てた、えらい！）スキーを選んだ私は、学校の近くのスキー場で朝からお昼すぎまでずっと友達と滑ってました！私の地域は結構スノボする人も多いし、友達がスノボ滑ってるのが羨ましかったのでスキー二本くらいだけした後に、スノボを急遽借りました。

　私の地域のスキー場は、毎週木曜日がfree ski dayで無料で夕方から使えるのでほぼ毎週の木曜日は友達と「山行こう！」みたいなノリで通いまくってました。お家にスキーがあるし、スノボを借りるのもそこまで高くはないので気分で乗り分けてます。学校でのスキーがあった後に学校に行ったら、そんなに関わりのなかった男の子とかが「ひな！こないだスノボしてるの見たけどあれひなだった？どっちもできるのすごい！上手いじゃん！今度一緒に滑ろ！」みたいに言ってくれてまじで嬉しかったです　スノボ滑れてよかった～！うへへ　ってニヤニヤしちゃいました。

　ダンスはいうまでもなくめっちゃ楽しかったです、しかも前回よりも曲知ってたり友達増えてたりで、もっと楽しめました。次の日はダンスしすぎで筋肉痛になりました。

　あとこの間、近くのドーナツショップで新作の抹茶ラテを飲んでたら、日本語を勉強してる人に出会って、ちょうどその日にかわいいドレスをゲットしたし、念願の抹茶ラテが飲めて気分が上がりすぎていたので、ハイテンションなまま話しかけて帰り際に私が着てた日本語入りのＴシャツをその場で脱いで押し付けるようにプレゼント（？）したんですよ、そしたら次の日に私に絵をお返ししてくれて本当に嬉しかったです！こんな出会いもあるの面白いですよね、人生。

　あと今私は、ミュージカルに参加していて本番に向けてみんなでダンス覚えたり、歌を練習したりしてます。毎日放課後に練習があって忙しいし色々大変だけど、みんな面白いし優しいのでどうにか楽しく続けられてます。これからspring sports が始まってtrackをやる予定なのでとても忙しくなると思うけどとりあえず頑張ります！！因みにミュージカルはマンマ・ミーアです！

Hey guys, it’s Hina from Maine. It’s already March… I guess it is about time that cherry blossoms will be bloomed in Japan. Maine is almost spring but still there are some pile of snow.

 In this report, I want to share y’all about what did I feel strongly in America.Through my study abroading so far, I thought I really don’t know about Asia even though I am Asian who born and raised inu Japan. When I was talking with some exchange students who from another Asian countries, when someone asked me about relationship between Japan and another countries, I realized I literally don’t know Asia at all. Of course, countries in Asia located separately not like Europe, so it’s little bit different from another area to compare it, but still it’s so weird that we barely able to explain Asia. In Asia, there are 50 countries( including 2 countries which not take part in UN ), but how how many of them can we mention? I should’ve studied and paid attention to other asian countries more (these days I’m trying to know Asian countries but it is so interesting to look up their history, culture and relationship between Japan!).

 However, not only Asia but also world -even Japan, there are tons of things we haven’t known at all. I already get compulsory education and taking additional education at high school, so I wasn’t thinking but it was definitely not enough and now I could finally be aware of my overly ignorance.

  These days, I feel like Japanese people are still capturing yourself and entire world through stereotype perspective. Maybe Japanese are arrogantly thinking we’re special or we’re major power, even though World is changing constantly. I’m not denying Japan, we have cool culture, cool tradition and history which we can proud, but we should learn more from another country before saying it’s our way or this is our tradition.

みなさんこんにちは！ルイジアナ州に留学中の藤田愛永です。レポートの提出だいぶ遅れてしまいましたが、その分皆さんに私の学校生活のことをしっかりお伝えできたらと思います！

学校のことは前回最後の方にちらっとお話したのでその続きからいきたいと思います。私の通う高校は中学校と高校が一つの校舎に入っています。まず、学校に着いたら授業まで１時間近くあるので前の日に終わらなかった宿題をやったり、毎朝ホストマザーのクラスに来る女の子とお喋りしています。その子は日本にすごく興味を持っていてくれていて、特にアニメが大好きなんです！この前アニメグッズをプレゼントしたらすごく喜んでくれました。また、私の好きなグループの動画を見せたらとても気に入ってくれたんです。自分の好きなものを、しかも違う国の人に好きになってもらえるのはすごく嬉しいです。それからは毎日会話が絶えなく、楽しいです！授業は7:18に始まり、14:30に終わります。ひとクラスあたり90分の授業があります。90分って長すぎでしょって最初は思いましたが、慣れてくると時間の流れが早いのであっという間です。帰る時間が早いのはいいです（笑）私は今学期にArt I、Civics、Algebra II、English Iのクラスをとっていました。Civicsでは主に政治について学びます。Civicsをとる前はUS Historyをとっていたのですが、難しすぎたので途中で変えました。変えてからは授業についていけるようになったので変えてよかったと思っています。Algebraは数学ですが日本の数学よりとても簡単です！ほぼ中学レベルで既に学んでいたものが多かったのでスラスラ解けました。日本ではあんなに数学嫌いだったのにって感じですが、むしろ全然嫌いにならなかったです（笑）English Iは私以外の生徒はみんな歳下でした。でも現地の英語の授業はやっぱり難しくてこれでも毎日付いていくのに必死でした。なので、先生に相談してTransition EnglishというEnglish Iよりレベルが一つ下で他の生徒とは違う成績のつけ方で補助してもらっていました。ありがたいです。こないだ一学期が終わったばかりなのですが、最初のときよりも成績が伸びていたものが多く、頑張った甲斐がでたので嬉しかったです。

部活動はRed Cross ClubとMulticultural Clubに入っています。Red Crossはアメリカにおける赤十字社です。クラブでは救援活動について学びます。活動は不定期なので頻繁にはありません。最後の活動日は数ヶ月前のAmerican Red Cross Centerの見学でした。Multicultural Clubは留学生のクラブで月に一度活動があります。このクラブでは異文化交流しようという感じなので毎月、異国のトラディショナルなものを作ります。先月はメキシコのクッキーのデコレーションをしました。クッキーはとても美味しかったです。今月はクリスマスカードを作りました。クラブ中はたくさんお喋りするので、自分の国についても聞かれたりします。日本語でメリークリスマスとハッピーニューイヤーはどうやって書くの？と先生に聞かれたのでホワイトボードに書いたら、みんなに発狂されました（笑）もちろん私も他の言語を見たら頭クラクラしました。でもいろんな発見ができて面白いです。本当はスポーツの部活もやりたかったのですが、これ！っていうのが見つからなくて未だにやっていません。冬休み明け何かやりたいと思ったのですが、今からじゃ多分遅いって言われました。ちょっと後悔しています。何事も「チャレンジ」してみないとわからないのに、やらないのはもったいないですよね。いつも行動が遅いんです私！（笑）新学期では後悔を減らせるよう、マイペースにならぬよう頑張ります。

はい、次は私が印象に残ったイベントいくつか紹介していきますね〜。

まずはホームカミング！これ結構楽しみにしていたうちの一つです。先輩方のレポート読んでいて憧れがあったので、いよいよ行くのか〜ってなりましたね（笑）パーティーは夜でしたが、みんなテンション上げ上げでした。DJもいたのでこれまた興奮しちゃいました。曲に合わせてみんな踊っていたので私も恥など捨てて踊ってきました。友達は恥ずかしがっていたのですが、誘いに誘いまくって最終的に一緒に踊りました（笑）今まで話したことなかった人とも喋ることができたし、新しい友達もできたので私にとっていい機会になりました。次はバースデーパーティー！この間ダブルプレイスメントのアンナと、ホストペアレンツの孫のルイくんのバースデーパーティーがありました。2人の誕生日は違う日ですが、平日はみんな来られないので休日の同じ日にやりました。ルイくんは初めての誕生日会だったんです！親戚もたくさん来てみんなでお祝いしました。ケーキ食べてる姿が超絶可愛かったです（笑）アンナのパーティーではほぼ留学生ですが、友達がたくさん来ました。みんなでゲームしたり、お喋りしたり、ワイワイ騒いでゲラゲラ沢山笑いました。久々にたくさん笑いました。アンナはプレゼントくれた人にハグしていたのに私があげたときは、、してくれませんでした（笑）心の中で、あれっしてくれんのかいって思いました。でもこの間、まなみがくれたプレゼント使わせてもらってるって言ってくれたときはまあ素直に嬉しかったです（笑）

留学生活が終わるまでいよいよ残り5ヶ月ほど。ハロウィン、サンクスギビング、クリスマスが終わればあっという間だよっていうの、わかる気がします。本当にそうです。最初は一年なんて長いと思っていましたがもうあと半分か〜って感じです。時間の流れは早い早い。今は絶賛クリスマスブレイク中なので、学校が始まったら休みボケにならぬよう頑張ります（笑）人生初の紅白見ず、初詣行かずの年ですね。家族の中で一番うるさい奴が家にいないからのんびり過ごせるね（笑）私もこっちで盛大にハッピーニューイヤーしてきます！

Hello, everyone! This is Manami stay in Louisiana state. I was too late to submit my reports, so I’ll tell my school life properly.

 I told a little about my school last time, so I’ll start to tell continuation of last time. In my school, middle school and high school are in one school building. At first, when we arrive at school, it has one hour until classes, so I do my homework that didn’t finish last night and talk with the girl who come my host mother’s class every morning. She is interested in Japan and loves anime! I gave anime toys for her last time. She looked so exciting. Also, I showed my favorite artist group, she liked it too. I was so happy to people from different countries like my favorite. Then the conversation is always fun every day! The class starts at 7:18, finishes at 14:30. Per class have 90 minutes. At first, I thought 90 minutes class is too long, but I get used to it, the flow of time is instant. Good point is go back home time is early. I had taken Art I, Civics, Algebra II and English I this semester. Civics learn about politics. Before take civics, I had taken US History, but too difficult for me, so I changed it. After changed it, I can keep up with the class. I thought select change class is good. Algebra is math, but it’s too easier than Japan. Almost the level of junior high school in Japan and had already learned at most, so I could solve a problem easily. In Japan, I didn’t like math so much, but I didn’t dislike that in here. All English I class students are younger than me. But, American English is difficult and I was desperate to keep up with class every day. I talked to teacher this problem. Transition English, one level below English I, she gave a different grade than other students. I was grateful that. This semester was finished recently. My grade had almost improved than first. I was happy because I often worked hard to get grade.

In club activities, I join Red Cross Club and Multicultural Club. Red Cross is the International Red Cross Society in America. In the club, we learn about rescue operation. Activity is irregular, not frequent. Last activity was the American Red Cross Center visit few months ago. In Multicultural Club likes cross-cultural exchange, so we make foreign country’s traditional somethings every month. Last month, we decorated Mexican cookies. It was delicious. This month, we made Christmas cards. Also, during clubs are asked about my country too. I was asked from teacher, How do you write Merry Christmas and Happy New Year in Japanese? After that, everyone seemed so surprised when I wrote that. Of course, I was dizzy when I saw other languages. But, it is interesting to can be various discoveries. Actually, I wanted to join any sports club, but I haven’t found and liked it. I wanted to do that after winter vacation, but I was told that it is probably late. I regret a little. We can’t understand without trying anything and it’s wasteful not to do it. I’m always slow action. In the next semester, I will do my best to lower my regrets and not at be own pace.

Next, I’ll talk about some of the events that impressed me.

First, homecoming! This is one of the events I was looking forward to. I was reading my senior’s reports and longing for it, so I felt at long last it’s my turn. Party was the night, but everyone was high spirits. I was excited again because there was a DJ. Everyone danced with the songs, so I danced give up shame. My friend was shy, but I invited her to an invitation and finally danced together. I could talk students never talked before and made new friends, so it was really great time for me. Next, birthday party! There was Anna’s birthday party and Louie’s birthday party a few weeks ago. Their birthday are different days, but everyone can’t come on weekdays, so we did it on the same day of the party. Louie was the first birthday party for him! He was so cute when eating cakes. Many relatives came and celebrated him together. At Anna’s party, almost exchange students, but many friends came our house. We played the game, talked a lot, made a noise and laughed a lot. I laughed a lot after a long time. Anna was hugging who gave her presents, but she didn’t do that I gave it. I thought in my heart that she wouldn’t do that. But, she said me to I used the present you gave me a few weeks ago. I was happy to be honest.

About five months left for finish study abroad. It’s over all to soon after finish Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. It really is. At first, I thought one year is long, but the rest only half year now. The flow of time is quick and quick. I’m on a Christmas break now, so I’ll do my best to make sure it’s not still on break when school starts. It’s the first year of my life without watching Kohaku and going the first visit of the year to a shrine. You can spend a leisurely time because no one is the loudest in my family. I’m going to have a big Happy New Year in here!

アメリカ合衆国ミシガン州Carlton High Schoolに留学中の 佐藤　一花さんからの第３回目のレポートです

こんにちは！ミシガン州に留学中の佐藤一花です。だいぶ遅くなりましたが明けましておめでとうございます。今年もよろしく、皆さん。私が住んでいる地域は例年に比べて全然雪が無く、かなり暖かいみたいです。去年の今頃は−20℉だったらしいのですが、今年は＋20℉はあります。今日は50℉もあったみたいです。

さて、今回はイベントについて話していこうと思います！

まずはクリスマスのことから話します！私はクリスマスの日にファザーのシスターが住んでいるバージニア州に行ったため、クリスマスイヴの日にプレゼントを開けました。クリスマスでは、たくさんのプレゼントをもらいました！一番すごいなと思ったのは、hoverboardです！なんて説明するのか分からないのですが、hoverboardって調べてもらえば出てくると思います。16歳になってまでそんなものを貰えるのか！とびっくりしました。最近は乗っていませんが雪が完全に溶けたら外でやってみたいと思います。後は、ブランケットを貰いました。学校のマークのデザインや私が参加していたマーチングバンドのデザインが入ったブランケットでとても驚きましたが、嬉しくて毎日使っています！その他は、カップやバッグ、ネイルなどとにかく沢山の物をもらいました。バージニアに行ってからは、ファザーのシスターとその子供たちと一緒にワシントンDCに行きました。ワシントンDCではスクーターに乗りました。２、3時間くらいスクーターに乗って観光していました。暖かかったので気持ちよく乗っていられました。バージニアから帰ってきて次はニューイヤーがありました。12月31日にマザーの妹家族と友達家族が来ました。それから近くに住んでいる友達も来ました。子供だけでゲームをしたりしてすごく楽しかったです。同い年の友達は12：00過ぎまで私の家にいて一緒にボールドロップも見ました！そしてnew year’s dayは特に何もせずゴロゴロして過ごしました。その後、学校が始まってから2週間後くらいにfinal examがありました。テストでは点数が悪い教科もいい教科もありましたが、全てのテストとクラスをパスすることができたので良かったです。数学は満点でした！algebra1なのですごく簡単なのですが、、、テストが終わると二学期が始まり、一学期とは違う授業も始まりました。と言っても私はほとんど同じ教科を取っています。しかし、先生が変わった教科もありますし、クラスのメンバーも変りました。何人かは一学期の人と同じで知っている人もいますが、仲のいい子と別れてしまい悲しいなと思うこともあります。そんなこんなで1月も終わり2月に入りました。2月1日にアンサンブルの大会がありました。私はパーカッションのメンバーと一緒に演奏しました。いまだに私はその大会のシステムがわかっていないのですが、3月にステイトの大会に行くので、まだまだ練習が必要です。のはずでしたが、コロナウイルスのせいで中止か延期になりました。バレンタインデーにはファミリーがキャンディーをくれました。友達もくれました。私はその日の夜にマザーと2人でマザーの妹が住むケンタッキー州に行きました。ケンタッキーでは大学生の女子バスケットボールの試合を観に行ってきました！私たちが応援していたチームの中に大学１年生の日本人の女の子がいました！その子は試合には出ていなかったのですが、試合の後に選手からサインをもらったり、一緒に写真を撮ることができたので、その時にその女の子と挨拶程度ですが話すことができました！後は野球のバットのミュージアムに行きました！そこではバットが作られているところをまじかで見ることができ、最後にはミニバットをもらうことができました！その次の日には人生初コストコに行ってきました！私は日本のコストコに行ったことがないので、私の人生初コストコを楽しんできました！笑それからケンタッキーではインターナショナルショップにも行ってきました！そこには日本のものもたくさんありましたが他の国のものもたくさんあって楽しかったです。ですが何と言っても日本のお菓子や食材との久しぶりの再会で興奮しました！とりあえず私は味のりを買いました。相変わらずの美味しさです！

Hello! It’s Ichika Sato from Michigan! I tell you about weather around here. We didn’t have snow too much this year. This winter was warmer than usual.

I’m going to talk about events! First, I talk about Christmas. I opened Christmas presents on Christmas eve because I went to Virginia with my host family on December 25^th. I got lots of presents for Christmas! The thing that was the most surprised in my presents is Hover Board. I don’t know how to explain it. You can look up on the internet lol I didn’t expect that I can get it. I also got two blankets! Those have design of my school! One has my school’s mascot, and another one has marching band design that I joined! Isn’t it cool? Other things are a cup, a bag, nail polishes, and so on. In Virginia, I stayed at my host father’s sister’s house. She has two daughters. I went to Washington D.C. with them. I rode a scooter, and visited many places. It was warm and nice day! After I came back to my house, we had a New Year’s Day! My host mother’s family, her friends, my coordinator, and my friend came over on New Year eve, so my house was full. We played games. It was so fun! I learned new card game! My friend was in my house until midnight, and we watched ball drop together on the TV. I did nothing on New Year’s Day. I was just chilling lol After that, school started. I had final exam. ( We also called midterm). I got good score and bad score. It depends on class. I passed all exams and classes. I got 100% in algebra! I have algebra1, so it’s easy though lol Then, 2^nd semester started after the exam. I have new two classes in this semester. I have almost same classes, but teacher changed and members changed. It was a little hard for me. Some people are same as 1^st semester, but my friend and I were separated, so sometimes I feel sad. Anyway, January was done. I had percussion ensemble on February 1^st. Probably we got 1^st place, so we were going to go to state competition, but it was canceled or postponed because of corona virus. On Valentine’s Day, I got candies from my host family and my friend. I went to Kentucky with my host mother at that night. My host mother’s sister lives in there, so we stayed there. We went to college girls’ basketball game. I met Japanese player and took a picture! I also went to the museum of the baseball bat. We saw baseball bats that being made. I got a mini bat. On that day, I went to Costco!! It was my first time. I was so excited lol I went to international shop! There were many stuffs that came from around the world. Of course, there were Japanese stuffs. I saw lots of Japanese snacks. I got seaweed. They are delicious!!
