アメリカに留学中の山岡　ほの香さんから第四回目の留学報告が届きました。  

皆さんこんにちは、コロラド州に留学している山岡ほの香です。私の町は最近２０度を超えたりするのが毎日のようになり、とても過ごしやすいです。

まず、ファミリートリップについてお話します。私はファザー、マザー、シスターと一緒に2泊３日で、車で2時間かけてスノーチュービングをしにコロラドの大きな山の頂上に行きました。今回が私にとってホストファミリーと遠くの場所に行くのが初めてだったのですごくワクワクしていました！実際に山の頂上に到着するとそこには“アナ雪”に登場してくるような街並みがありとても綺麗でした。ホテルに行く前に近くの公園でそり滑りをしてファザーが作ってくれたホットチョコレートを飲み、とても綺麗な夜景をみて満喫しました。ホテルに着くと想像以上に豪華な部屋で、野外スパもありすごく快適でした！次の日、スノーチュービングをしに行ったのですが、とても楽しくて90分があっという間に終わってしまいました。そのかわり顔が日焼けしてしまってすごく痛いです。（笑）その分、ファミリーと楽しい時間を過ごせたので良かったです。

次に学校生活についてお話しますね。2月の最初の週まで水泳をやっていて、今はテニスをしています。私はなんとVarsity の中でダブルス一番手になりとても嬉しいです。こんな感じで私の学校生活は部活のおかげで充実しています。そして最近3学期が終わり今は4学期なのですがこの間自分の成績を見ると最初F３つついていてすごい焦っていたのですが、なんとついにすべてのｆが無くなりそのうちのふたつがAにあがってて本当に嬉しかったです！授業内容に追いつくのはまだまだ難しいですが、何をいつまでに提出するべきなのか、宿題の範囲やプロジェクトは何について取り組めばいいのか、最初は全然わからなくて先生に沢山聞いていたことがだんだん分かるようになってきて本当に少しずつ英語力も上がっているのかなと実感しています。５Gのみんなの英語力がどれくらい伸びたのかはわかりませんが、私が言えることは約8か月たった今でも留学前に思い描いていた英語力とは程遠いということです。多分今留学準備をしている子の中にはペラペラに話せるんだろうと思っている人もいるかもしれません。実際私もそう思っていましたが、意見求められてもいまだに言いたいことがスラスラ言えない、知らない単語が多すぎて相手が何を言ってるのか分からない、というような経験を毎日のようにしています。正直、ネイティブスピーカーと生活すれば自然に英語力が上がっていくのかなと甘く考えていたので今は本当に後悔しかないです。ただ、残り二か月と少ししかないのでこの期間を楽しんでいきたいと思います。

Hello, I’m Honoka who are staying in Colorado, USA. Recently, my town is so warm outside, and it’s like over 20 degrees every day and comfortable for me because I hate cold and snow even though I live in Hokkaido.

Anyway, first of all, I am going to talk about the trip with my family for the first time. I went to the mountain to do snow tubing. It was awesome trip because the hotel was like a house. There were two bathrooms, three TVs, washing machine, and dryer in the room! And there was also spa outside. I had never stayed such a gorgeous hotel, so I was excited. The next day, we went snow tubing, and it was so fun. Actually, it was ninety minutes, but I only felt like thirty minutes. When I got the hotel, my host mom told me that I got sun burn on my face. I didn’t want to get sun burn, but it was so fun, so it’s ok.

Secondly, let me tell you about my school life. I swam until first week of February, and I am playing tennis now. I could be a first varsity doubles player! I was so happy to be able to be a best doubles player in the tennis team. Definitely, this activity makes my school life better than before. I want to tell you guys about my grades. To be honest, I got three Fs on the first quarter, but I didn’t get any Fs, and I got three As in six classes. I think because I can understand what I should do for assignments and projects. When I got here, I couldn’t understand everything. So I think my English is improving. However, the English level is very different from the level that I had thought before I came here. I thought I could talk in English fluently, but I can’t talk like that yet. I think if I studied English harder here, I could talk and understand more. Honestly, I have many regrets so far, but I only have two months and a half until I go back to Japan, so I have to enjoy my life here. See you guys in 2 months.

アメリカに留学中の関寺　汐音さんから第三回目の留学報告が届きました。  

ミシガンからこんにちは。

関寺汐音です。皆さん元気にしていますか？

私が生活しているTrufantは気候の変化が

とても激しく、まだ2月なのに16°…それなのに次の日には雪が降ったり…と忙しいですとても。

体調管理しにくい季節です。北海道はどうですか？健康第一です。皆さんも風邪には気をつけてください。

 

 

さて話は変わりますが、私は1月28日から1週間程 

旅行に出ていました。旅先はカリブ海。最高でした。何もかもが美しい。皆さん”カリブ海行きたい”って考えた事ありますか？私は正直、無かったです。（笑）カリブ海と聞いて出てくるのはパイレーツカリビアンくらいです。

私たちは1週間のクルーズでフロリダのキーウェストという島、グランドケイマン、メキシコのコズメルに行ってきました。未だに言葉が見つからないのですが、とにかく素敵なところです。 こんなに幸せで良いんだろうかと思ってしまいます。

私はグランドケイマンの”Stingray city ” という所にエイを見に行きました。ポートから30分程船に乗ってエイのたくさんいる海の中心に向かいます。stingray city という名前までついてる程なので結構このツアーは有名らしく、ポイントに着くとそこはボートと人で賑わっていました。

エイに触れたり、写真を撮ったり、…想像してたよりも柔らかくて人懐こい性格でした。エイと聞くと私は尾に毒を持っているイメージだったので危なくないのかな…とは思っていましたがそんな心配は全く持って要らなかったらしいです。（笑）こんな体験日本ではできないので本当に感謝しています。”stingray city”に行くことは私のホストファミリーからの最後のクリスマスプレゼントでもありました。感謝を伝えると、”Merry Chirstmas!”と言ってくれて何て素敵な人たちなのだろうと一人で勝手に感動していました。一方、メキシコのコズメルは言語も違えば何もかもが違うので本当に面白かったです。民族舞踊をみた時が一番テンションが上がりました。街がとてもカラフルでいるだけで幸せな気分になれます。

正直クルーズすると聞いた時に頭に浮かんだのは”タイタニック”でした。家族には笑われましたが意外と真剣に「寝ている間に船が沈んだらどうしよう」と思っていました（笑）勿論何事もなく楽しい1週間を船の上で過ごしました。船の揺れが凄くて船酔いした日が1日だけあったのですが、その時にファミリーから貰った薬がピルだったという事を知るのは旅から帰ってきた何日か後の話です...（笑）

旅にはハプニングがつきものという事で、私の今回の旅の失態といえば『日焼け』です。最終日、日焼け止めも塗らず船の1番上で約2時間寝てしまいました…痛くて痛くて肌が固まってしまった感覚でした。その日は痛いだけで終わったので良かったのですが家に帰ってきてからが問題でした。日焼けしすぎて両腕に大量の水泡ができてしまう事態…誰よりも太陽に近いところで2時間...そりゃあ出来ますよね。なめてました。自然の力は恐ろしい本当に。ただの火傷です。これからは日焼け止めを塗ること誓います..皆さんも日焼けのしすぎは気をつけて下さいね。今となっては良い思い出ですがかなり後悔したので（笑）いつも私の知らない世界を見せてくれるホストファミリーには感謝してもしきれません。さよならを言わなければならない日がいつか来るのはわかっていましたが、近づくにつれて私がファミリーのために何かしてあげれたのかなと不安です。なので残りの3ヶ月皆に感謝の気持ちをしっかりと行動で返していきたいな..なんて思っています　５月にはカナダに連れて行ってくれます。本当に楽しみです。きっと私とマザーはショッピングに明け暮れると思います（笑）たくさん写真も撮れたら良いなぁなんて今から考えてます。

 

そう言えば、クリスマスくらいから時間が止まっている感覚があるのですが…もう気付けば春なんですね。先輩方の写真を見て卒業シーズンだということに気づきました。

この時期に卒業式がないので余計に実感が湧きません。1年後には私たちも卒業…まだまだだ、なんて言えなくなりますね。後1ヶ月後には高校三年生、受験生と呼ばれてしまうのです。早すぎる…一つ言えるのは高校3年間のうちにアメリカに留学することができて本当に良かったということです。ここに来たことで今までは考えもしないようなことを考えて見たり、日本の良さを知ったり、もちろんアメリカの良い所悪い所に気づくことができました。「家族や友達の大切さ」なんてありきたりな聞こえかもしれませんが、切に感じました。意外と自分が人間依存だということにも気づきました。（笑）後3ヶ月、まだまだ気づけること考えることはあります。ここまで頑張って来たことを無駄にしないように頑張ります。

アメリカに留学中の長峰　響さんから第三回目の留学報告が届きました。  

こんにちは！ひびきです。元気ですか？？私はぼちぼちです。去年のいつかからレポートを書いていなかったので、話したいことがたくさんありますが、今回はバンドの活動と私の誕生日についてお話します。

 

Hello guys!! How are you doing?? I’m not too bad.

 

I’ve not written my report since sometime of last year, so I have too many things I wanna tell you guys, but I’ll talk about activities of band and my birthday!

 

First, pep band(play when we have basketball games) is over like the end of February. Just few nights but I had great times with my friends. And I remember at last my report, I said like “I miss marching band so much and symphonic band is pretty hard for me”… yes, absolutely I still miss marching band but something changed. Now I can say “I LIKE SYMPHONIC BAND SO MUCH!!” I’ve just had the winter concert of band last week. Was pretty good. Now we’re preparing for the spring concert. It’ll be the last concert for me, so I’ll do my best.

 

Next is about my birthday!! March 4, I had the biggest and best birthday ever. I had never had a big birthday party like that. Absolutely it was super awesome. There 23 people at the party and I got a lot of presents. I’m not sure I can take all of them to Japan but they’re so lovely!!

This time I’ll send pics of the band and birthday party to you guys.

 

Next my big event is prom, probably. I already got my super pretty, gorgeous, beautiful, awesome dress, so I’m ready for it!!

I’ll tell and send pics of prom to you guys maybe next time!!

カナダに留学中の角町　ことみさんから第四回目の留学報告が届きました。

みなさんお元気ですか？いつ冬が終わるのか、そろそろ終らないかな、Ch終わるといいな。と毎日思っています。札幌は雪がとけはじめたころでしょうか？ことみです。　前のレポートで何を書いたのか忘れてしまったので、思いだすところから始めます。ちょうど1月までのことだったので、２月からですね。

２nd semester が始まったことぐらいしか特に大きなイベントがなかった気がします。私はChemistry, American History, Gym, Math: Pre-cal, and English をとりました。Chemistryが１番難しくて、最初の３日間は先生が何を言っているのかほとんど分りませんでした。それに、私の先生がブラザーのChemistryの先生だったのですが、彼はsemesterが終わるまでChemistryは最悪だと言い続けていたので不安しかなかったのですが、全然いい人でした！長期留学を考えている４年生のみんなは絶対数学をとるべきです！それはなぜかというと、基本的にカナダやアメリカの数学は日本から１年うしろで、新しいことを学ぶというより、復習のかんたんなバージョンみたいな感じだからです。EALからEnglishに変えたとき、先生からはEALをとるように言われたのですが、朝の２時間のわりに大したことをしないし、でも宿題は毎日出るという、時間の無駄でしかなかったので、コーディネーターと相談してEnglishに変えました。たまに、先生と自分のやりたいことや、理解度がかみ合わないことがあり、これはきっとこれから留学をひかえている後輩のみんなもぶつかる壁だと思うのですが、言わないと何もかわりません。学校のことでは、バトミントン部に入りました！ずっと入りたくて、シーズンが始まるのを待っていたので、すごく楽しみです！来週から練習が始まって、４月にある学校のトーナメントにでます。あと、3月末にあるHeritage Dayという各国の文化や料理をふるまう日があって、日本人は私以外いないのですが、参加することにしました！友達とブラザーが手伝ってくれるようなのでうまくいきそうです。3月1日は私の誕生日でした！朝起きたら部屋の前に風船が置いてあって、学校でもHappy Birthday の歌を歌ってくれたり、今までで1番の誕生日でした！私のファミリーは最高です！次のレポートが最後なんて信じられません。できるものならずっと高校生でいたいなぁ。またね！

Hi! How’s every buddy doing so far? I’m wondering when will the winter over everyday. It’s Kotomi. I guess Sapporo’s already started melting snow. I don’t remember what I wrote on last report, so I should start back to that one. So, it juts finished on January. My bad.lol February was ordinally and didn’t have any big event beside 2^nd semester I guess. I took Chemistry, American History, Gym, Math: Pre-calc, and English. Actually, chem is the hardest class that I’m taking now because I didn’t understand most of things for the first three days. Also, my teacher was Sam’s last semester’s teacher and he had kept saying chemistry is the worst class ever. So there was nothing, but worry, but to be honest, she is pretty good teacher. The problem is, there are lots of sword which I don’t know. I would recommend you to take math in Canada if you’re considering study abroad for a year. Because, the math in Canada or The U.S. is basically one year behind from Japanese. So the classes like easy version of review. My grade is pretty good so far so I’m pretty sure you guys can do it too! When I decided to move on normal English, my teacher said that I should stay in EAL but for me, it was waste of time because they don’t do much stuff even 2 periods of classes but homework everyday. So I talked to my coordinator and decided to move on. Sometimes there are difference what you want to do and how much understand between you and your teacher. I guess that’s the thing that you might be face if you’re thinking study abroad for a year but you have to say it cuz they don’t notice by themselves. Speaking of school, I sighed up for Badminton club. I was looking for join it so I’m so exciting now. The practice will start off from next week and I’ll play tournament on April. I’ll have Japanese pavilion on Heritage Day. It’s like a behave each country’s culture and food. Sam and my friends will help me out so it’ll be fine I guess. March 1^st was my birthday! When I woke up, there was some balloon in front of my room and also my friends sang Happy birthday for me! It was the best birthday ever I mean it. My host family is the best! Damm Next report is the last one before I go back to Japan. I can’t believe it and I don’t wan to. Anyways, I’ll see you next report. See ya!

アメリカに留学中の渡辺　真生さんから第三回目の留学報告が届きました。

　こんにちは！バッファローに留学中の渡辺真生です。今回のレポートは3回目、新年が明けてから初めてのレポートです。みなさん楽しいお正月、冬休みを過ごすことはできましたか？アメリカのお正月は全く特別感がなくいつも通りのご飯、いつも通りの日常生活と、正直日本が恋しくなりました。１番はやっぱりお雑煮やおせちなどお正月の料理が食べたくなりましたね（笑）冬休みは短くて３日から始まる学校はとても憂鬱でした。そもそも３日から始まるということに驚きを隠せませんでした（笑）日本だったら普通３日ってまだお正月休みですよね？ですが私の学校は２月の20日から１週間また冬休みがあります。特に予定があるわけではないですが、とっても楽しみです！

　アメリカの学校生活が始まり半年が経ちました。私が学校に通い始め１ヶ月がたった頃同じJFIEの日本人留学生であるしほのがホストチェンジすることにより、学校も変えなければならないことになりました。正直その時はまさか自分の学校に来るなど考えてもみませんでした。自分はまだ全然慣れていない、友達もいない学校にしほのがくることになり本当に不安でしかありませんでした。私は多分比べられるのが怖かったんですよね。しほのとはGeometryとU.S. History の授業が被っているんですがお互い頼りすぎずでも困った時は助け合いながら頑張っています！留学って本当に何が起こるかわからないですね（笑）今しほのは私にとってとてもいい友達です。これからも助け合ってお互い頑張っていきたいと思います！

　私は4、5ヶ月経った頃からここにまだいたいという気持ちが出てきました。今は本当にまだ日本に帰りたくない気持ちでいっぱいです。もちろん日本で待ってくれている家族や友達に会いたい気持ちもあります。最初は早く日本に帰りたいと思う日ばかりでした。この間ファミリーが次の留学生について話していたことがあったんです。正直私は結構ショックでした。次に自分ではない誰かがこのファミリーと生活するのか、もし、ヨーロッパの人だったら自分より英語ができてもっとコミュケーションもとれるのかと。また留学生を受け入れたいと思ってくれたのはとてもいいことなんです！それは自分でもわかっています。これは自分のわがままですが、そのとき私は私だけのファミリーでいて欲しいと思ってしまいました。私は本当にこのファミリーが大好きです。私はこのホストファミリーで本当に良かったと思います！残りのファミリーと入れる時間もここに入れる時間も大切にして悔いなく過ごしたいです。

 Hi guys! I’m Mao from Buffalo. This is 3^rd report and 1^st report from New Year’s. Did you have a nice New Year and winter break? American people don’t have special event for New Year’s so I missed Japanese-style New Year little a bit. I had a winter break, but it was only 1 week. School started on January 3^rd and I didn’t want go back that much. Usually, Japanese people have a New Year’s break until the 3^rd right? But I have a mid-winter break from 20^th so I can’t wait it!!

 It’s already been about half a year since I started school. When one month had passed, my friend who is also a JFIE Japanese exchange student changed host families so she had to change schools, too. I didn’t think she would come to my school, so I was surprised. I didn’t have friends and I wasn’t used to school at that time, so I just felt anxious. I think I was afraid of being compared to her. I’m taking Geometry and U.S. history with her. We don’t rely on each other too much, but we help each other out. Now she is my good friend!!  You never know what will happen in exchange year life!

 By the way, I want to stay here longer with my host family. Of course I miss my family and friends in Japan but I want to do many more things with my family here. At first, I wanted to go back Japan soon, but my feeling changed after 3 or 4 months. I felt like I didn’t want to go back to Japan. Recently, I talked about exchange student with my host parents. My host family thought they wanted to accept another exchange student after this. I felt sad at that time. I know it is a good things but I thought if the next exchange student is European and they can speak English, then they can communicate with anyone more than me. I’m jealous of them. I thought this family was only my family. I know that is selfish but I really like this family. I didn’t think host family would be this good! I’m thankful for being accepted in this family. I have only about 4 month left. Time goes so fast, right? I want to enjoy being with my family after this.

アメリカに留学中の浦城　由羽さんから第二回目の留学報告が届きました。

Hi you all. I’m Yu living in Tennessee. how are you doing? I sometimes think about weather of Sapporo because TN has no snow. TN is abbreviation of Tenessse. Therefore ground that uncovered with snow, it always lets me remember that I am in different place.

 

As I wrote last time, I am so happy I am here. I am not sure what I should start writing. But I obviously recognized I’ve not written about Thanksgiving so first of all, I’m going to do. 

During those, I mainly stayed in Mississippi. Truly there is no building and fancy shop. However large families gathered together for celebrating thanksgiving so there is not silence. The days were fun and I was able to come into touch with one of biggest culture of USA. When we finished eating dinner, we played on candy like child and I pulled on the wishbone with my mom. In addition I went toArkansas and Memphis,TN. I saw huge glass pyramid which I was hoping, almost countless illuminations and Santa. 

 

I guess you made imagined Christmas when after you read about thanksgiving. However I m gonna write about my friend. I have best friend who is trombone player, same age with me, silly, funny, loving Japan and one of my favorite American. When we were practicing Christmas for concert as same as always, he told to me suddenly “Yu, enjoy with me.” I said ” yeah~~~!”. Don’t you think this is ridiculous? At least I thought I can’t get what he’s saying seriously. He continued and said what he will leave school after this semester and he determined himself. I didn’t understand totally which he said but that was serious. Then I was crying, he comforting and hugging but that semester was only 5 days left. Few days later, Christmas concert came that was his last concert as JCHS band. He was crying with me at his favorite childhood song “the polor express”. I will never forget spending time with him, he will continue being my favorite American for me more than decades, and me too for him.

My first semester was extremely great for me that  could end without problem and with many laughs.

 

 

And now, I’ll talk about Christmas!! I joined church choir while Christmas time! It was fun for me who love singing. I made chiristmas cookies with my friend house! it was hilarious and tired. my friend made fuge cookie dough so we were working working working hard. My class of choir had concert, my class was dancing Joyful Joyful it was so much fun! I spent Christmas holidays at my parents’ house of Alabama for 8 days. To be honest, I’ve went to Alabama many times but there was special Christmas. I helped cooking dinner, decorating house and taking care of children and dogs. Many people was there and sang Christmas songs, opened presents and talked a lot. I’ve understood why American people love Christmas and celebrate grandly regardless of Christian or not.

 

Well, next…must be New Years and the Eve! New Year’s Eve, I went to Knoxville for being wonderful day with my family. We watched movie, ate curry, went to Asian market and big shopping mall. Then I got mochi that is called sticky rice cake!!!! Might as well, I cooked oshiruko from the process of boiling dry small red beans and taking 6 hours. All processes made me tired, but satisfied me at same time. When I finally finished to cook, I instantly called my mom and grandma in Japan and talked. As a result my family loved oshiruko so I’m proud of myself. On time of changing year to 2017, we ate Soba, watching live vedeo at Times Square. I did not have osechi but I was able to have great time with my family. Although I was really having fun, I had to go to school 4 days later. 

 

 

This semester started!! I am taking Agricultural science, Nutrition and food science up, U.S.History/English 11 and band. Each class has different attractive. In first period, I always just copy textbooks, watch video and talk with friends. Ah I can study about cattle,swine, USDA and whatever agriculture. Basically it is boring class but I can chat and sleep in extra time, so not bad. My second class is upper class that in all of nutrition class and only 9 girls are there including me. It’s difficult and hard class however I sometimes cook dishes and desserts! My 3rd and 4th haven’t changed, and I love these better than las semester,and I can take easy in these classes. When I knew first time that I will not change classes, I thought that’s bad. But my friendship is continuing there since last semester. Spending time together is worth, and time made me comfortable more yesterday listening teacher, doing homework and chatting. 

 

I’ve already learned about US culture from many events. Especially among them I loved Night of the Patriots. It was event for soldiers and we were grateful to them. I was in choir class, so I sang songs at front of many soldiers in a solemn atmosphere and I played song of military in the band. I was sorry that I was unable to watch all of other things but it was good day. My school was full with many people. I am not understanding correctly about military, however I alway feel unfamiliar and difference between US and us when I saw high school student who wants to be soldier, starts curriculum of military and wears military uniforms.

 

 

I’ve taught about Japan many times for my friends! Pocky day, happy couple day, good meats day and whatever! My favorite was Pocky day with my friends! We ate Pocky and sang a song of Pocky!! When I said today is Pocky day we should celebrate, everyone were confused why November 11 is the day. However I explained why it’s so, they were really surprised:) When I showed Japanese yen to my friends, they asked about 5 yen and 50 yen coin. They were really loved the looks, I gave them coin. Next day, they made necklaces of 5 yen. It was cute. Unfortunately, my school cannot use phone anytime in school I was unable take pictures. Ah my school has rules such as hokusei, don’t wear skirts which is shorter than knee, don’t use phone at school and if it was find to use, phone is typically gonna be taken for 31 days. 

 

By the way my school days are doing excellent so don’t worry, be happy! Everything will be great! I am going to start writing about my birthday on next report and if I had space I will write that hanging out and whatever. Take care yourselves! See you soon.

アメリカに留学中の鳥谷部　秋さんから第三回目の留学報告が届きました。

こんにちは！鳥谷部秋です！もう2月の終わりで-20、30℃にはならなくなってきてあったかいです。

　　まず12月に行ったフロリダ旅行のことについて話します。クリスマスを挟んで８日間ほどホストファミリーとグランマ、いとことフロリダに行きました。寒いミネソタから出てフロリダに着いた時は夏みたいにあったかくてアメリカの大きさに改めてびっくりしました。ユニバーサルスタジオ、ディズニーワールド、ビーチ、シーワールドなどに行きました。全部本当にたのしかったです！特にクリスマスの日にビーチに行ったんですけど白い砂浜と青い海と空！夕方には綺麗なサンセットも見れて最高でした。夜家に帰って、みんなでプレゼントを開けました。今年は伝統的なクリスマスじゃないし家じゃないからプレゼントも少ないんだよと言われましたが、楽しい時間を過ごせたので全然okです！私があげたプレゼントもみんな喜んでくれて嬉しかったです！

　　次にチアのことについて話します。随分前のことになるんですが11月の終わり頃にバスケットボールチアリーダーのトライアウトがあってダンス部で鍛えた笑顔のおかげで２２人の中からの６人に選ばれました！男子と女子両方応援するので12月、１月は週に２、３回ゲーム、プラス練習があって忙しかったです。でもそんな充実した毎日やチームが大好きだったのでもうすぐで終わってしまうのが本当に恋しいです。たくさんバスケの試合を見てるうちにバスケの試合が大好きになりました。特に男子のゲームは迫力があって本当に面白いです。しかもチアリーダーはコートのすぐ横にいるのでよくボールや選手がとんできて、迫力満点です。たまにテーマが決まってる日があってパジャマデイ、ハワイアンデイなど観客がテーマ沿った服装をしてきます。私が一番楽しかったのはサイレントナイトと言ってチームが１０点を決めるまで応援しないで静かにするんですけど１０点決めた瞬間に狂ったように騒ぐというものです。その日はみんなハロウィン並みに好きな仮装をしてシーズンの中で一番たくさん観客が居てチームはすごくいい試合をして最高以外の何物でもありませんでした。

　それからバレンタインがありましたね！私の学校ではバレンタインの前の週にお花を予約できて、バレンタインの日の一番最後の授業でサプライズで友達や恋人に贈るというものがありました。そして私の友達も私に花を予約しといてくれたんです！花を渡す係の人が私の名前を呼んだ時はびっくりしました。花と一緒についてたカードは日本語で書かれていて本当にうれしかったです！

　残りの３ヶ月も楽しく充実したものになるように頑張ります！長くなってすいません。ここまで読んでくれてありがとうございます！

　Hello! This is Aki. It’s getting warm in Bemidji.

  First, I’m talking about Florida trip which I went to with my host family, grandma, and cousins on December. When I arrived there, it was so warm like summer, so I was surprised that how big America is. We went to universal studio, Disney world, beach, and sea world. I enjoyed so much. Especially, beach that we went to on Christmas day was perfect day, because there was beautiful white sand, blue sky and water. And we saw such a beautiful sunset. My host mother told me that it was not traditional Christmas. But I had a great day, so I do not care.

  I’m talking about cheerleading next. I took tryout for basketball cheerleader, and pass it. We are cheering boys and girls both, so we had 2,3 games a week plus practices. It was pretty hard but I loved fulling days and my squad. So I am so sad that we have only few more games and practice. I hope our basketball team goes state! On senior day which is celebrate basketball seniors, I got a lot of presents, and my team mate cried and another team mate said “I’m gonna kick airplane and you won’t be able to leave us”. I was so sad but also happy that I got such a nice friends and be in this squad. I really want to cheer with them next year too. My squad is like family, and we call our coach “mom” haha

  I got a carnation with a card from my friends on valentine’s day. The card said “I love you” in Japanese! It was so sweet and made me happy. But I little missed Japanese valentine’s day. How was your valentine?

アメリカに留学中の丸子　友里華さんから第三回目の留学報告が届きました。

明けましておめでとうございます。今年のクリスマスや冬休みはどうでしたか？ケンタッキーは食べましたか？笑私は、とても充実したものとなりました。私たち家族は、カリフォルニアをメインに12月20日から１月６日まで車移動で旅行へ行きました。車で行ったので、時間はかかりましたが沢山の州を通り、私はもうこれまでにアメリカで12の州へ行ったことになりました。そして、カリフォルニアディズニーランド、ハリウッド、ラスベガス、グランドキャニオンなど様々な素晴らしい場所へ連れてってもらいました。本当に私の家族には感謝の気持ちでいっぱいです。私はラスベガスのかの有名なとてもきれいで大きな噴水が一番印象深いです。あの景色を将来もう一度見られる機会があるといいなとおもいました。

未だにもう２０１７年が明けたことが信じられません。本当に早いものです。私的にはまだここにきて３ヶ月くらいしか経ってない気がします。意外と後悔も沢山あります。どうしてここに来たのかたまに自分自身に尋ねても答えが見つからないことがあります。だから、今年長期留学する後輩の皆さんには、行く前に、どうして留学に行くのか明確な理由や目標を立てることをお勧めしたいです。私が留学を決めた理由に少なからず、留学していたらかっこいいとか文化学びたいとか言いつつ本気ではなかったりと、くじけたときに頼る強い意志がありませんでした。ましてや留学中にくじけることがあるなんて思ってもいませんでした。正直ここにいると、良いこともあれば同じくらい良くないこともあります。でもそれも悪くないです。今悩んでいる事とかうまくいかない事とか楽しい事も全部ここでしかできない素晴らしい経験になると信じています。困ったときには、すぐ飛んできて助けてくれて笑顔にしてくれる北星の友達のような素敵な友達が沢山ここにもいます。本当に日々皆さんに感謝しています。ありがとう。 

Happy new year, guys！How have you been? How was your Christmas and winter break? Obviously mine was such an awesome. I went to in California by the car with my family from 20 Dec 2016 to 6 Jan 2017, then we drove through Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, and California. It follows that I have been to 12 states in the US so far. Also we went to Disney land, Hollywood, Las Vegas, Grand Canyon, and so on. I cannot express how much grateful feelings I have for my family. My favorite place was big fountain that we saw in Las Vegas. That fountain was the most beautiful fountain I have ever seen!

Even now I still can’t believe it had already turned 2017. Times goes so fast. I feel like I’ve only past 3 months from came in the US. I already have a lot of regret. I sometimes can’t figure out the reason why I came in America. My juniors that is going to in America or Canada this year, I recommend make sure check your reasons why you want to be there specifically. If you have those before you leave, it will very help you when you got trouble in America or Canada. To be honest, I have not only good days but also bad days, however that’s not too bad for me! I’m pretty sure all of them would be wonderful experience that I can get only here. My friends always helps me and makes me feel better when I’m having trouble. They are pretty cool just like my Japanese friends. I’m grateful to all of my people. Thank you very much.
